Already posted this in ACIG but thought I’d see what I ciould get out of you guys as well.
During the air campaign against Yugoslavia in 99, Yugoslav SF conducted an operation into Albanian territory (in the vicinity of a village called Kamenica). Now, I’ve heard a lot about this from some very unreliable sources and am reluctant to beleive 90% of it. I haven’t actually been able to find anything concrete at all (except what is available in the regular media).
It transpires that after an unusually heavy artillery bombardment of the area approximately 100 Yugoslav troops crossed into Albania, completely taking over the KLA held village Kamenica (previously an important staging area for KLA attacks). After two or three hours the Yugos left Kamenica and never returned.
Does anyone know any more? Is the above info correct? If not, what happened and why?
Further information about other Yug SF operations thoughout the Balkan conflicts would also be most welcome.
