It is a stretch too far in my opinion. Your point about CFU seems akin to the wisdom of 757s into Innsbruck to me!

Sounds like a stretch too far to me. I was lying about ZTH – deemed to be suitable for 762 but not 763 (don’t even suggest it!).

Climb derates don’t stay in for long on the 753. Flap 20 take offs are fairly common and need to be exercised with caution as the aircraft will actually descend during the acceleration for flap retraction if you follow the Boeing technique of going straight from flap 20 to flap 5. The aircraft is givem 1 hr 15 for turnarounds in the UK but only 1 hr down route which is tricky. There is a built in conveyor belt in the rear hold to assist loading and unloading! I think a 762 is a better option than a 753.

Thanks wysi – similar in handling I’m sure, but the 763 (on short/medium haul) leaves the 752 standing from a performance viewpoint. I’m told that you are having difficulty making a 60 min turnaround on the 753 due to the time baggage unloading/loading takes. Give me the containerised baggage in the 763 any day – managed a 48 min turnaround in the UK a couple of weeks ago (aircraft running late, so Servisair well prepared, three sets of steps etc, even so, quite impressive)

Moondance – 753 is very different to the 752 when it comes to performance. Its a Cat D and has a lot more inertia than the 752. Friends who have flown the 753 and the 763 say they are very similar. It’s also rare to get above FL350 in the cruise when fully loaded (280 seats capacity). Rotation rate is 2 degrees per second due to the increased fuselage length with a maximum pitch in the flare of 6 degrees. It is extremely bendy in turbulence. Give me a 200 any day!

Spotty M – you Boeing or Bus?

Down there 2 weeks ago, ramp space is being hugely enlarged. So expect widebodies in the futiure.

Down there tomorrow night, deep joy. Will see if any more progress has been made.

Moondance, sorry but who do u fly the B767 for?

Nope – not suitable.
Not much of a problem with 757-200 (apart from parking). Is take-off/landing performance of the 300 much different to the 200?

Still very tight in a 757-300. Can you get 767’s in there Moondance?

Tiny airport (parking spaces for 4 aircraft, which makes it twice as big as Preveza or kalamata!) which is in the throws of being expanded. Beautiful setting, limited opening hours, approach over the beaches where the turtles come up to lay their eggs, hammer the brakes on landing, performance limited departures (more of a problem for Airbus), Greek ATC.
