Zhukovsky 2012 – Russian Air Force 100th Anniversary Airshow

Morning all!

Back in August 2012, the Russian Air Force put on a huge display to celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary. I joined an Ian Allan tour which included the Sunday at the show. It was a thoroughly amazing event, with an 8 hours flying display including formation flybys by many current Russian Air Force aircraft.

I have finally finished getting the photos on to Flickr, and have split them into four different sets, the links to which are below:-

This is the set for the main static display. 73 images.

This set covers a collection of ‘historic’ aircraft displayed on the grass near the public area.
They are supposedly owned by the Gromov Flight Research Institute and are either for display or disposal (hopefully long term display). 24 images.

This massive set covers the outstanding flying display. It was directly into the sun, which is a nightmare for photos, but the content makes it bareable (well it does for me!!). 179 images.

Finally, this set covers based and stored aircraft seen around the airfield. A 500mm lens came in very handy for these!! 32 images.

I hope these are of interest. If you are planning to visit a MAKS trade show at Zhukovsky then these might give you some idea of what to expect, on the ground at least.

Regards

Alan

Great collection of photos, thanks for sharing them. Two things spring to mind…..first, spot the Western original design for each aircraft….and second, they all remind me of my old Observers Books of Aircraft, and those grainy shots of Badgers and Bisons.
