Zuccoli Fiat

Hi All
In another thread we had a little discussion about Guido Zuccolis Fiat based near me at Toowoomba Queensland Australia.

This is a fantastic Merlin engined machine and is a must see at airshows including next weekend at CaboultureIn the air it is often confused with a Mustang although Guido used to say that the Fiat was better!!!!

I have attached a few shots I took over the years of the Fiat showing the original scheme it wore together with the new one which reflected Guidos personality and in which it appeared in a film shot in the sand dunes near newcastle NSW

Just a minor correction: Dennis Sanders, the son of the late Frank Sanders restored the Fiat and Boomerang at Chino. The Sander’s, father and son have had a significant effect on the number of Sea Furies made airworthy in the U.S.

Dennis subsquently moved the business from Chino to Ione California.

Hi Growler

Quite True

I believe it was restored by Denis saunders for Guido and then raced reno and given it’s stock condition it’s performance was very good against the local P51s etc some of which were pretty highly modified.

The same Mr Saunders also restored Guidos Boomerang as well as a sort of boomerang for himself.

Kindest regards

Centauro

Am I right in saying that Guido Zuccoli had the Fiat restored in the States and then raced it at Reno before taking it down under? How successful was it against the Mustangs and Furies?
