STN-YVR is being dropped – it was only introduced as ZOOM could not get enough slots at LGW for 2004.

BHX was dropped as ZOOM wanted to concentrate on GLA & LGWas their UK destinations for 2004. As they expand next year with a 3rd aircraft, MAN, BFS, CWL & some more CDG services are being added.

    True,

but if the anti-trust deal had went thru, then BA/AA would have code and revenue shared on the routes ex-LHR.
Currently only BA/AA North Atlantic flights out of the UK regions (GLA & MAN) are allowed to operate as code-share.

There’s quite a large Polish Immigrant communtiy in Glasgow. These are not recent immigrants, but were wartime immigrants.

LHR is Oneworld’s major European hub – despite the regulatory authorities not allowing BA/AA Anti-Trust immunity. Compare this with AF/KL/DL/CO/NW & LH/UA who all have a form of Anti-Trust immunity for their alliances ex AMS, CDG & FRA.

Believe the BA/AA Anti-trust deal fell through after complaints from the above carriers and thus the authorities imposed unrealisitic conditions on them.
If the deal had went thru, BA & AA may well have merged to become the world’s biggest and most dominant airline.

The EU are now responsible for negotiating an Open Skies agreement with the USA.

Other US airlines would not be able to operate into LHR even if there was an open skies agreement, as LHR is operating at or near capacity with little new slots available.

More US airlines could be allowed access to LHR just now as part of an ammended Bermuda II if the following were to happen:

    1. BMI were given the same rights to operate ex-LHR to the USA.
    2. They could obtain slots at LHR.
    3. Not as many Middle Eastern/Asian Carriers had 5th Freedom rights ex LHR to the USA.

If the BA/AA Anti-trust deal had went thru at the time, BA would probably have expanded regional long haul to feed the AA hubs using their own equipment.
