Good post Daniel, thankyou.
Not for sale currently.
I am assuming from the mounting flange and spline that it is from a radial….but which one…. anybody??
It has a 7/8th shaft with 16 tooth spline….
Thankyou everyone. Sounds they are a fairly common piece of kit. I am curious, what sort of value would they bring? I have a matching pair.
So the whole thing spins with the prop….must make electrical contact similar to the horn button and steering-wheel on a car but on a bigger scale I’m guessing.
Beaufighter………the most versitile plane of WWII. Robust, most highly armed and fast.
Ok…wow!
So can be fitted to either a radial or V……how would it be mounted?
With reference to the Merlins coming out of the Lidcombe factory….how much of those motors was manufactured here??
Thankyou Avro, that information is fantastic.
I had no idea local production was so intense. So not only did we manufacture P&W cylinders but A.Siddeley as well.
Surely there must be NOS Cheetah cylinders still in Tassie waiting to be found.
What else was made in Australia??
Excellent photo.
Is that really a photo from the 70’s!!!
Wow technology has come a long way since the war………not!
