Has this been posted here before? its an apparent cover up of a accident between a destroyer and a frigate, why would they both come together so close? Was it a issue of Ego’s?

NO NO NO (not in the last place because Brahmos is close to 8m long and weighing in at around 2,5 tons, versus less than 6m and (much) less than 1 ton for Harpoon. Incidentally, the P-8 will have 3 rotary launchers …. for sonobuoys (which can be manhandled).

Why?? Trident is sufficient… Its as if the UK is being attacked by France of the rest of Europe or America, why hand such weaponary to politicians whom seem to treat it as a video game.

The Izumo is very close in size to the Italian Aircraft Carrier Cavour. Which, can easily operate F-35B’s and it also doesn’t have an Angled Flight Deck.

BTW Both are much bigger than the recently retired Invincible Class STOVL Carriers.

She is also slightly longer than the Indian navy carrier. I don’t think it would be so hard to retrofit the deck for VTOL aircraft. That is if it really is not already upto the job. As a planner you build this ship, even if its defensive you would want to cater for those could be scenarios.

I don’t think we will buy any new kilo subs as time for these is coming to an end for us.

Lease of another nuclear boat has more probability as we can’t win in number game with our potential main adversary. In that sense one more or less does not matter much but incident is a big shock.

    Dont understand the above RKUMAR.

What is happening to the scorpene submarines? Is that contract still in a bit of a mess?

The shortage of Submarines was predicted atleast over 6 years ago (i remember reading some articles on it dont ask for sources as I dont think sites will still be up, and it was around the time PN was buying the scorpene subs and a IN realisation that it was trailing behind PN). Cant the local dockyards produce diesel submarines?

Well, with the Liaoning in Service and a New Larger Carrier under construction. Looks like India is loosing the Carrier Race with China. Plus, the J-15 is likely more capable platform than the Mig-29K. That of course doesn’t even take into account the development of the J-31 either.

Indian lost the race when the asbm was put into service. It needs a non conventional force structure now and help from the Indian army or airforce to put some anti ballistic missiles on the andamans and key points like sikkim or southern India. Pakistan will happily host asbm for China in the west. Indian should buy patriot system I think.

Aircraft carrier is more useful to deploy against mid east or defend western ingress route into India in case of a conflab or meddling from that region. India doesn’t have the political will to hit targets outside its direct enemies land. Its a fact so aircraft carriers aren’t going to go around hitting gwador or Sri Lanka or Maldives or coco islands…

Bigger worry for Indian IAC and the QE or POW should be the ASBM north of India, in this era you have to ask if its better to have a Russian style missile cruiser as mig29 or f35 may have limited use against ASBM. Time will tell…

Have to wonder if the IN should think asymmetric instead of following western trend or replacing old for new. Again time will tell, but by then it could be too late. What’s clear is that IN can’t do conventional warfare against PLAN…

This kind of lamentation from the US makes me laugh, even if it does fall of the cliff its still probably going to be a most equipped airforce than 80% of the worlds air forces.

Oh and then there is the USN which has a small airpower capability off its own to equal most airforces…

Its like saying your only going to strap on 2 RATOF rocket to your SKODA instead of 3…
