Surely its better to diversify when it comes to weapons as it de risks significantly chances of your arsenal becoming obsolete due to the use of a singular jamming or avoidance method.
I have been seeing on the news what look to be Chinooks trying to water bomb the nuclear power station in Japan and it makes me wonder why some one has not lent japan a BE-200 or similar aircraft to properly water bomb the power stations.
Would the Japanese government have requested these aircraft?
not sure if it has been posted here so, news is that the second prototype PAK-FA has broken the sound barrier. This was reported by someone from HAL. However they do not have much information as that seems to be scarse.
What do these aircraft need on the electronic warfare side of things for this role? The USN seem to have pretty large energy requirements for their roles. Is being able to carry anti radiation missiles enough?
I don’t think Antony will be inherently against buying an American MRCA. But if they are to win it will be on merits and or costs (bang for the buck) and not politics.
I am not as convinsed, I see the news article as a stunt, it is not unknown for people to pay Indian media to print favourible news and I dont see this to be any different. These types of articals clear the path for a US purchase and US pressure to be put on.
I find it really difficult to see how the over bloated F-16IN or the poor value for money superhornet mk II can be bang for buck for India or any other country…
Don’t some of the companies have contracts the Lockheed? Thought mahindra and Tata did.
Boeing is planning to invest large in Russian engineering and R&D centre with the view to providing 24R support etc for its customers and projects. This is designed to tap into Russian Aerospace etc engineers.
Lost the link.
CMC isn’t Wedgwood.
Lol, nor does it have the kind of strain to failures or fracture toughness that may be required. If you want light and radar absorbing at front end carbon epoxy should be more than adequate. Don’t need it to be ceramic.
But does Japan really have that mouch to offer India in the aerospace field that India hasn’t/couldn’t master them selves? Its not like they have developed and fielded more revolutionary fighter jets than India lately.
But it could make one nice ally against China of course..
Japan is light years ahead in aerospace.
That’s plain retarded. So people with experience should be dumped in favour of those with no experience, as per your suggestion (Since no one in India except those who worked on the LCA have that experience anyway). or else India should basically just outsource the design and detail work to foreign entities ??
People learn from experience. That is how they improve.
you are allowed your opinion i am allowed mine…simples…
a public private partnership would be benificial for the AMCA project where by the public units act to develope technologies upto TRL 4-6 and the private units make best use of it.
LCA has shown that the current LCA programme team can not be trusted to come up with a strategy that would deliver the end product in a timely fashion and to within the specification of the customer.
It has alot more composites including a composite wingbox. Only the rear structure is not composite. It also has a re-designed FBW system.
Did they get the wingbox working? Was told once that they had issues with the wing spars with cracks or wrinkles and had to go back to Ali.
Prithvi and Dhanush have been tested recently, not sure if it has been reported on here. Dhanush was test fired from INS Suvarna
Isn’t ITAR related to American import/export of dual-use technology? How does that work here, given no US firms are involved in ATD-X yet?
Really depends on the background on which the ATD-X is based on, a lot of it could be US based in which case it would be an issue.
What the heck! 75,000 INR per month is 180,000+ LKR! 😮 Thats a very good salary in this part of the world. Last year I couldn’t get that for the whole year 🙁
If it was 20,000 USD I could understand but 20,000 INR? Eh?
That is a heck of a lot of money and I would have thought it would ensure a good life… comparing it to UK pay packets makes no sense because you would need to start earning £100K + to be in a position where your partner could stay at home, have a driver for the car, have a rasoi/mahraj and or a cleaner….
Anyway back to the subject, anyone know if SAAB have set up any JVs in India?
First, there has to be another earthquake in Japan, one which turns government policy upside-down.
Why do people make such suggestions? They’re completely unrealistic.
do you mean like my note of wishing for new leadership for the stealth project?
Working with japan comment, wont ever happen ITAR will make sure of that one way or another, but it was a wish list item….
