Air Defence Missile System from Israel under CBI Scanner

Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) has undertaken joint development of missiles viz. Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) for Indian Navy and Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) for Indian Air Force with M/s Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Israel.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a regular case relating to the procurement of Barak Anti Missile Defence System for the Navy in which M/s IAI, Israel is also involved. The case is pending investigation.

This information was given by Defence Minister Shri AK Antony in written reply to Shri A. Elavarasan in Rajya Sabha today.

It says it reached above 1350KM/hr but it does not really say at what altitude etc and if the tanks of the Tejas were empty, what it was carrying etc etc..

I can always say that MKI or latest upgrade X is untested in real war scenario with real smart opponent…

Out of all the nations on the subcontinent and the near orient the IAF is the last outfit you would say are untested in a war scenario with real smart opponents.

It probably already is, having one of the best Special Forces in the world helps, but it would mess up every other part of our armed forces. Simply turning all our existing troops into Special Forces would not only be incredibly expensive (training costs a hell of a lot to that kind of level), time consuming and downright impossible. They say 99.9% of people in the UK aren’t up to Royal Marines standard, imagine how few are fit to rate against Special Forces troops, even after training.

The only way your “solution” would work would be to simply put special in front of all our current troops, it makes no sense or difference. It also means that the UK can not act independently at all or to act with partners for the majority of the time, like in the EU or NATO when normal troops or peacekeepers are needed. Can you really see the SAS toddling off to do UN peacekeeping ops?

I cant i agree its semi daft but something needs to give and the people in charge cant keep cutting the budgets and sending our troops from the north pole to south and through tim buk tu as they say.

You have (as most often is the case) have a very fair point.

This can be used in dealing with cases of espionage and army intelligence gathering. “We have begun research on at our life sciences laboratory. But it is still at an infant stage. A soldier’s mind can be monitored in real time”, he said. why is he making this public?!!!

Mr Saraswat said technology is also being used in making weapon systems more tough so that it can withstand large shock loads and develop bunker buster systems which can penetrate deep into the earth.

“This will increase efficiency in ground-to-ground attack, ground-to-air, ground-to-sea and even underwater attacks,” he said.

What confuses me is what part of a bunker will be good in ground to air?

The army doesn’t want conscripts. To increase numbers, even via conscription, it would need more money – and if it had more money it could get more recruits without conscription. For example, the TA has been cut in numbers by government decree, to save money, not because of lack of volunteers.

Make it into a training thing, if you want to be an engineer then spend a month or so as an engineer in afghanistan or something as part of your degree similarly for media or doctors nurses etc etc.. take away all the admin roles and put them on civilians make the army into a fighting force and make the 1month a or similar into a compulsary thing.
