So everytime an american or british soldier dies in iraq we should rejoice because pawns of bush-chenney and haliburton are killed? You should definitely agree about blackwater.

Did the russians embargo them? It should have been easy to pick up a few Mi-17’s.

You can rig a Mi-8/17 with UB-57 rockets and it would do a better job.

Depends what you mean by short legged. The Mig-29k and the newer Mig-35 versions have a range exceeding 2000km on internal fuel. If the light fighter can meet the specs then being cheaper and easier to maintain it would make a lot of sense to russians. US is not a small country by any means yet they have no problem buying F-35’s?

Pakistan??? Are you serious?? They can’t even purchase the C-130 or AH-1 without aid, what makes you think they can purchase 2 planes for 500 million?

Aussies already got the 4 they wanted. I can’t see them buying 2 more so soon. But you never know. Pretty sure its not canada.

There are many countires which won’t buy american plane. Venezuela, Iran, syria, libya, cuba maybe even brazil. So there is ample sale potential for a single engined Mig 5th gen aircraft.

A BRITISH nuclear-powered submarine was damaged after colliding with rocks in the Red Sea, it emerged last night.
HMS Superb hit an underwater rock on Monday, damaging sonar equipment and forcing it to surface. None of the crew was hurt and the submarine remains watertight, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence insisted.

Superb, a Swiftsure-class attack submarine with a crew of 112, based at Faslane, hit an underwater pinnacle 80 miles south of Suez.

The vessel had passed through the canal and was in the northern Red Sea when she grounded. No other vessel was involved.

The incident comes just a few days after it emerged another nuclear submarine, HMS Trafalgar, suffered £5 million of damage after it crashed into the seabed off Skye in 2002. Officers used tracing paper to plot her course, in a bid to stop charts beneath being “spoiled” with pen. But the practice meant marked obstructions were obscured.

Travelling at 14 knots (about 16mph), the Trafalgar crashed 165ft below the surface. Its nuclear reactor was undamaged.

10 nm??? THats supposed to save a LPD? From what? Even a small C-701 will be a threat at that range. No Navy would likely try to land a armor force without capturing a beach head. The only way to ensure that LPD/LST are truly safe is to have some air component to neutralize these threats.

But whats to protect them? IF some amount of self protection is what is required then dokdo with 16 barak-1’s will do just fine. If the sealift is going to be under the protection of TuAf then LSTs are just as good.

What is turkeys threat perspective? Other than cyprus they are not in any economical or military coindition to attack anyone. A 20k tonne LPD is a sitting duck as turkish navy can’t really deploy it safely anywhere away from its shores. So whats the point?

IN is just inducting Shardul class (5600 tonne) LST. I dont think they are outdated.
