True PN needs new ships desperately. The newest T-21 is already 29 years old and the leanders are gone (except for training). Even F-22p fulfills the criteria you mentioned, but it still is a piddly light frigate. They would certainly look for some good ships as seen by their attempts at getting the T-23’s and standard class frigates. I just don’t see them going all chinese in surface ship. I guess they are hoping for a OHP handouts from USN.
[QUOTE=Tigershark]unlikely.. the Americans will still have suspicions with India’s deep links with Russia, and India will be wary of the reliability of the Americans and their links with Pakistan.
after all, why would the Americans want to sell something to a country that may pass on technology to Russia? they can reduce this threat by selling them monkey models, but they would probably be inferior to their Su-30MKI in capability.
it may be more likely they would sell the JSF to Pakistan if Pakistan had more money.[/QUOTE
India had rejected the offer to join JSF team long ago. Though IN had shown some interest in it. LOL yes US will offer JSF block 0 to pakistan (or china) in 2050.
IS USN retiring any OHP’s that PN could grab instead? I can’t see RN shedding anything except maybe old T-42’s.
LOl yes, another mediocre chinese frigate. The F-22p (milgem is not ready yet but is better equipped corvette) itself will take till 2013. When exactly will 054 come to PN?
If you mean loans then yes. I suppose it means they will look to procure more ships from china after F-22p’s start arriving. Maybe after 2010 a few miligem corvettes.
The article is a farce. Ka-62 is in same class as HAL Dhruv and will not be procured by India. I believe HAL would tie up with Kazan for the 10 tonne helo, hopefully based on Mi-38.
So has the deal been called off?? Somehow I don’t see PN going with all chinese surface ships.

Russian aircraft carrier ‘Admiral Gorshkov’ will be inducted into the Indian Navy later this year, naval chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta said here today.
“We are inducting Gorshkov by the later part of the next year,” the Chief of Naval Staff told reporters after reviewing the passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here.
‘Gorshkov’ has a sea endurance of 30 days and a capacity to carry more than 2,000 sailors. India has bought the Russian carrier in 2004 after years of negotiations.
On enhancing maritime surveillance, Mehta said the Navy is finalising a proposal for the purchase of suitable equipments from abroad.
“Modernisation plans of the navy are on the right track. We have moved far ahead in our modernization plans,” he said.
He said the Navy is will be adding 40 more new ships in the near future.
“For this purpose, orders have already been placed for building 33 new ships in Indian yards while six ships are being purchased from abroad,” he said. The Navy presently has 136 warships.
“The order-book of all the Indian yards is full,” he said adding the budget allocation for the purchase of new ships has already been allocated.
Besides this, India would also be buying six submarines.
I thought the deal was signed? The first two were supposed to be transferred by end of 2007.

PIA plane develops 2nd fault in 15 days
KARACHI: A PIA plane bound for Lahore had to return to Karachi after its engine developed a fault. This was the same Airbus A310, wet leased from a Turkish company, that aborted a flight two weeks ago after pilots detected an engine fault. The flight carrying 187 passengers took off from Karachi at 3am on Thursday and returned at 4:20pm, a PIA spokesman said. “The engine was not making pressure,” the spokesman said, adding that the plane was OK and it again took off at 6:00pm. Most passengers refused to board the plane the second time. staff report
Yes why don’t we print news like no crashes from PIA today to have positive news.  . Stop acting so sanctimonious, These are the only news about PIA lately. When something good comes in media it will be posted. rest assured.

PIA plane stranded in Delhi
By Jawed Naqvi
NEW DELHI, May 19: A PIA plane with some 80 Lahore-bound passengers was stranded in New Delhi on Saturday after faulty brakes immobilised theBoeign 737 aircraft, PIA officials said.
They said the scheduled flight from Delhi to Lahore was due to take off at the right time at around 1700 hours but the plane couldn’t be budged with its wheels irretrievably jammed.
There were some hopes for the passengers to still make it to Lahore late on Saturday night as technical hands got busy to unshackle the locked wheels. If that failed, PIA sources said, there would be no justification for not giving a hotel accomodation to the harrassed travellers till the problem was resolved.
PIA spent close to almost two million rupees the previous Saturday when its Karachi-bound passengers had to be taken to hotels. The afternoon plane had arrived late in the night because of the violence in Karachi that day.

PIA plane engine fails before flight
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying 175 passengers aborted its takeoff at the last minute as its pilot detected a fault in one of its engines and applied emergency brakes.
Flight PK-791 bound for Birmingham, England, from Islamabad International Airport was midway through its run for takeoff at around 9am when the pilot applied the emergency brakes, which resulted in four of its tyres bursting. APP said there was a fire in one engine.
The Airbus A310, wet leased from a Turkish company along with its crew, was stuck on the runway for several hours and two flights were diverted.
PIA Public Relations Director Muhammad Latif told Daily Times that there were no injuries and all passengers safely got off the plane via chutes onto the runway and were taken to the lounge. He said the tyres burst because of the application of the emergency brakes, an inbuilt feature on A310 aircraft.
He said two PIA flights (PK300 and PK 742) were to land at the airport but were diverted to Lahore. APP reported the Civil Aviation Authority as saying that 15 domestic and eight international flights were affected.
Latif said the airport was opened for normal air traffic at 2 pm.
The passengers of flight PK-791 were accommodated on another aircraft due to take off for Birmingham at 8pm on Thursday, PIA said.
This was the latest in a series of minor accidents at Pakistani airports in recent weeks. In March, PIA temporarily slashed its flights to Europe by nearly half after the European Union barred most of its planes due to safety concerns.
The 3D CAR has close to 200 KM range if I am not mistaken. SLAF also needs some decent fighters not the chinese crap they have now.
Coming to europe this aircraft…:D

Fire scare delays PIA flight
By Our Staff Reporter
ISLAMABAD, April 27: Manchester-bound Pakistan International Airline’s Boeing 777 was involved in a fire scare at the Islamabad International Airport on Friday morning.
Flight PK-701 was delayed by one hour and 45 minutes and finally departed after necessary checks.
The problem was noticed while the aircraft, AP-BGL, was being prepared for departure and passengers had boarded the plane.
Engineers told this reporter that there was slight sparking and smoke in the Auxiliary Power Unit and component in the tail that powers the aircraft while it is parked on the ground.
“Some smoke was noticed by the staff on ground and the fire response system was immediately positioned,” a source at the airport said.
Replying to a question, the source said, the faulty equipment was not repaired and was only disconnected. “It was perfectly safe to fly with it,” he added.
President fo the Society of Aircraft Engineers Pakistan (SAEP) Shaukat Jamshed confirmed that the aircraft left without replacement of the faulty APU and the Karachi base station had been notified for arranging the spare part. The passengers were not off-loaded.
It should be recalled that Boeing 777s are the only aircraft in the airline’s entire fleet that have been permitted by the European Union to fly to its member states and are considered safe. However, there were safety concerns about the rest of the fleet.
Van collides with plane
At this rate PIA won’t have any planes left…

KARACHI: A cargo van hit an Islamabad-bound PIA plane at Karachi airport on Tuesday, damaging the plane’s engine and injuring the van’s driver, Geo TV reported.
According to the channel, the van slipped and hit the lower part of the plane while loading the passengers’ luggage onto it. The van driver was reportedly injured in the collision. Passengers had not yet begun to board the Airbus A310 jet, Associated Press reports. The plane’s body and one engine, however, were damaged and delayed the flight by two hours while repairs were undertaken, according to APP.
The accident marks the third involving PIA aircraft at the Karachi airport in two weeks. Earlier this month, the tail of a PIA Boeing 777 clipped the wing of another jet as it taxied. No one was hurt. Then, last week, the nose of an A310 Airbus hit the ground during an emergency landing when six of its tires burst. No one on board the jet was injured. agencies
