What radar would that thing carry? The chinese version or the Italian one that PAF wanted.

It can still be operationalized using another engine. Since india will not buy F-18 or F-16 for MMRCA, GE can offer the F-404 or M-88 from france is another option.

I think these so called stoppage of re-export by Russia will not have any effect.

Initial testing will be done by Russian engines including for Pak aircrafts and they will not be called sale (perhaps called demo or test aircraft on lease), say till 2007-8

Subsequent / First batch will be so called Chinese engines but actually russians engines, say till 2008-10

Then after some Indian heart burn it may be Chinese engines with lot of ‘Russian components, say 2010-12

By the time so called Russian clamp on engine re-export will take place, Chinese engines would be well in place 2012-14

SO at maximum we are looking at 1-2 year delay in schedule for aircraft being operational at squad level in Pakistan.

I think the same story will be repeated for J-10

Yeah rite…Since russia won’t overhaul these engines and chinese capabilities are limited, PAF would have to be absolutely bonkers to go in for a RD-33 equipped aircraft. More likely china will bitch and whine and finally whenever it gets its ws-13 or whatever in a decent shape supply it to pakistan.

The relationship between Russia & India is more of a equal partner then of some Master or Slave , Even Russia believes that if development cost has to be reduced , Joint Development & Production is the way to go , Much like the trend elsewhere.

Brahmos is a perfect example of such joint development and synergy developed between these two countries for joint weapon development & production for their respective forces.

It is just the question of choosing the right partner , If you read the statments from the link quoting Russian officials , India is a more acceptble partner for Russia then others and vice verse.

If Russia really wanted to get some cash then she would have approached china few years back and wouldnt have waited for India which took about 3 years to take a decision on joining the 5th Gen Project

Yawn…you are wasting your time with the village idiot. Sometimes I feel its george bush incognito:D . Don’t worry scooter the Chinese are already working on J-xx and J-xxx (only for adults) which will beat F-22 and pak-fa black and blue;) .

What difference does it make? Its only meant for training and if the occasional tsunami shows up:rolleyes: . It was a very cost effective way for IN to gain experience.

More likely american companies won’t even get crumbs with India prefering russian or french stuff and china being politically blacklisted. US as usual will be pariah between the three πŸ˜€ .

There are no border dispute between the two unlike russia-china or India-china.
Russian-pak relations are almost non existant.
