The J-10 maybe heavier yet its thrust to weight ratio will be lower. Remember, the Flanker is heavy but very agile! As for the Chinese having a cheapo radar. You have no bases to make such a claim except for your bias? As for training you may finally have a point! WOW:eek: Clearly, India has open its doors to other countries and has been flying a good deal of Dissimilar Combat! Good for her……………..Regardless, your speculation has very little bases in fact.:p
No it has more basis that your claim of super agility. Flanker has 2 engines remember. and as you say if J-10 is the best china has then they are in trouble. IAf is clearly more concerned about Su-30MKK and J-11.
Why would they act any differently. After all its US who seems to go around threatening everyone.
If, we are going to speculate…………….first its more than likely the J-10 is more agile than the LCA. As is has a close coupled delta wing combined with canards. Further, it is very likely that the J-10 will shortly receive TVC. Which, combined with the two and fly by wire would easily provide a highly maneuverable platform. Next if we go to power its really no contest as the Flanker Engine generates something over 27,500+ lbs. While, the LCA is only going to make 18,000 lbs. (i.e. GE F-404) As for Radar Performance the radome of the J-10 is larger so it can hold a bigger array or antenna. This of course in itself doesn’t guarantee superiority. Yet, China can more than likely get access to just advanced radars as India. So, combined with the larger radome she should or at very least could have a slight edge with all things being equal. Really, I would say the J-10 is approximately equivalent to a F-16 Blk 40 in my opinion. Yet, more agile if equipped with TVC down the road. Regardless, in any form it would more than likely be considered superior if only marketly more to the LCA. That’s my 2 cents………………….
LOL the J-10 is a lot heavier than LCA will very little composites. I doubt your claims on agility. Of course the J-10 radome is bigger but what radar will it have? I would venture some cheapo chinese radar. If J-10 is going to be like F-16 blk 40 then IAF will be least concerned, IAf regularly trains with RSAF who operate a superior aircraft and have pilots who are trained better. The LCA with MMR/EL-2052 and even the GE-404 IN-20 is superior to anything J-10 will ever get except the TVC.
Becouse China is currently inducting advanced 4th generation aircraft in quantity (I assume you have seen the recent J-10 threads?). In the next decade these aircraft I likely to get more advanced, taking in to account the reports of chinese orders for TVC engines and radar developments, add to this reports about further advanced J-10 variants being worked on (according to the CIA anyway, as well as other sources). Thus it becomes apparent that within the next decade the quality of aircraft in the PLAAF inventory will improve dramatically. While aircraft such as the Rafale, Typhoon, F-15K, Su-30MKI, may currently hold a theoretical superiority over aicraft in the PLAAF at the moment, it is is unlikely that this will be the case by 2017.
The only truely 5th generation fighters available in the near term are the F-22 and the F-35 and these likely will have superiority over the potential 2017 chinese types. Thus we arrive at our conclusion.
J-10 an advanced 4th gen? . Ok so tell us what are the radar specifications? What the hell is a theoretical superiority. All the aircrafts you mentioned are way superior to J-10 and better than the downgraded MKK sold to china.
Thanks, I couldn’t find much about the chaff launchers.
Oh and how did we reach that conclusion when the IAf only expects it to reach FOC by 2012 only. Looking at the competition it faces in th region J-10, jf-17and F-16’s It will serve its purpose pretty well.
New diesel U-boat for Brazil, nuclear goal fades
By Andrei Khalip
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Dec 12 (Reuters) – The Brazilian navy has chosen Germany’s HDW-ThyssenKrupp to build a new conventional submarine and upgrade its underwater fleet.
But the draft deal worth $1.4 billion means the postponement of the military’s goal of producing its own nuclear-powered sub.
Brazil’s five submarines are all based on the same firm’s diesel-electrical IKL-209 model. The new IKL-214 has an improved design but is far from the concept of a teardrop-shaped hull of a nuclear submarine built to operate for years undetected without resurfacing
Thanks bager I see what you are saying. But lets not continue on this thread..lest Mr Mushashi hollers for the mods again.
Does anyone know what those things circled in red are? The image is taken from BR and shows the brahmaputra.

The formal induction of the first batch of 22 female sailors into the Pakistan Navy, following the completion of a 38-week-long extensive training course, is definitely something that every Pakistani, especially females, should be extremely proud of.
The passing out parade of the female batch, along with 1000 new-entry sailors, was held at the PNS Himalaya on Tuesday with Commodore Muhammad Aslam Rana as the chief guest. The chief guest was right in making the observation that the valuable contribution of the women of Pakistan in strengthening the armed forces is very important for the progress and prosperity of the nation. This ‘forward march’ of women in the Pakistan armed forces is also synonymous with the image that Pakistan is trying to project internationally, that of an enlightened, moderate state attuned to the needs of the times.
I guess we must agree to disagree….
Really, the more I think about it. If, India wants to maintain Air and Battle Field Superiority over China and Pakistan. She will have no choice but to turn to the Europeans and/or the US. Clearly, the edge she held in the past is slipping away……………Just think Pakistan will in the near future field more advance F-16’s, FC-1’s, and J-10’s. While China greatly increases its Flanker and J-10 Fleets too! Also, more importantly China is gaining in developing that Technology to build respectable indigenous types on its own. (i.e. excellent J-10)This would finally allow both of the former to finally have a Qualitative and Quantitative Superiority! 🙁 Hey, India may even purchase more than one of the Western MMRCA Contenders. (i.e. Super Hornet, Viper, and Rafale):diablo:
So you agree since US provides the F-16 (which are only advanced compared to mig-21’s) to pakistan and russia providing Su-30Mkk to china, Indias safest option would be Rafale from france. American a/c’s simply don’t stand a chance. If india goes for 2 kinds of a/c it will be frnch and russian. but then its my opinion, you are free to indulge in your fantasies.
Who the hell hijacked it? Someone asked a question and I answered. Period. You want to see hijacking ask why sealord, scooter and other yankee fan boys are commenting on F-18 and MMRCA on the IN thread?
Actually who said Brazilian navy is looking at sir Galahad? I can find nothing on google or brazilian navy site?
This looks like more internet speculation than anything else.

While the Indian Navy is planning to undertake an ambitious Rs2,000 crores project to build its own Landing Platform Dock (LPD), besides buying an old American Amphibious Transport Dock (ATD), the Indian Air Force is planning to buy 80 multi-utility medium-lift helicopters. The Indian Army on its part is looking at inducting more Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH).
By undertaking the project to build its own LPD, or Amphibious Transport Dock, the navy hopes to substantially increase its capability to carry relief material and personnel. Sources say the entire project would be based on French Mistral class design and built at the Garden Reach Shipyard, Kolkata.
