The engines are the problem, but then China maybe about to cut the umbilical card on this one. Avionics and missiles have already moved into self dependency.
Avionics and missiles are sub par compared to russia or west but since china will be looking for desperate customers like pakistan and zimbabwea it might be ok.
India will not accept russian AESA etc, they don’t want it in MRCA either. If it was any good Mig-35 would have been the choice straight away. Its the lack of credible AESA from russia that let Boeing and Lockheed into the competition. IAF wants the EL-2052, its well known.
P-15a’s are supposed to join by 2010. Also they are waiting for Barak-2. Any news about the missile?
Third P-15a under construction and 2 fitting out.

taliban->pakistan->china. Maybe they were afraidof this happening.
The shtil will be replaced by Barak-2 at a later stage. Barak-2 are first going into P-15a and P-17a.

Daring class at full load is 7350 tons nowhere near 8000?
But Pakistan seams to have enough money for new subs which aren´t exactly cheap and Malaysia hasn´t contracted BAe, yet.
They are still trying to recover from it. Their priority would be another 3 subs which will set them back another 1-1.5 bil dollars. So I don’t see FREMM as an aternative. MAlaysia can afford 1 FREMM but would likely prefer a few smaller corvette/light frigate sized ships instead.
Third P-17 frigate fitting out in Mazagon dock.

Ok, my bad.
Fitz, no one is under any impression that the PN went for chinese frigates or even JF-17 due to their quality or capability. Both provide pakistan with rudimentary capability of building something they have never ever done at the cheapest cost and even on loan. No other country would do the same for pakistan. What would you have done instead?
I would definitely have preferred the T-23’s to these but PN couldn’t cough up the money. The Greek ships are only marginally better being 25 years old. This was the last option. Just go with it.
The cost seems to have doubled from US$ 1.1 Billion for three to US$ 2 Billion for three. Can’t call it a minor increase
Dollar has dropped:mad:
Didn’t stick for the french when then bought the CVF designs?? Why didn’t it stick when RN went in for american SLBM’s and tomahawk instead of making one from scratch?
