Yes AAW has been achilles heel for IN till now. Hopefully Barak-2 would rectify that.

And how many accidents have you heard of in IN? They wouldn’t have ordered 6 more Seakings from US if they didn’t like them. The IN seakings still have 8-10 years in them.

I meant the force and MR Sengupta.

In a news article from the Press Trust of India, dated 30 October 2005, Rear Admiral T S Ganeshan (Retd) – GRSE’s Chairman & Managing Director – said, “It is a 2500 ton corvette armed with stealth-mounted guns, the latest electronic warfare suite which, together with other key operational equipment and is shielded using stealth technology incorporated into the design of the bulwarks. The structure of the ship would be such that it would cut down noise drastically to prevent it from getting detected by enemy submarines. But it will be able to detect an enemy submarine from a distance and destroy it.”
The 20380 is rated at 2000 tonne fiully loaded which makes it much smaller. I don’t have a lin but I remember admiral T S Ganesan had refuted that the P-28 was based on 20380. I am guessing now but it could easily be a smaller version of talwar itself.

A link on how the 2500 tonne figure came about:

Brazil Looking To Acquire BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile

If they also are interested in air launched brahmos at a letter stage it makes sense to go for Su-35.

Glitter, the Rafale is as much a new plane to brazil as Su-35. If they can learn to operate Rafale they will do just fine with Su-35.

Brazil Looking To Acquire BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile

The delhi’s won’t be upgraded with KLUB’s but Brahmos missiles. I don’t think there is a big doubt about which copter is better either. IN uses both Ka-28 and Seaking’s and Seakings are preffered.

Thanks swerve. It looks like a good design. I hope australia orders the spanish design and IN watches the competition. There were some reports of IN seeking 2 mistral type of ships, the spanish designs might be interesting.

The Navantia design is as big as the cavour. I guess it could easily carry the same number of aircrafts (24) as cavour. The Mistral seems like a more conventional LPD design.
