Indian Navy to induct US-made choppers for the first time
NEW DELHI: For the first time, Indian Navy would induct US-made helicopters with the government giving the go-ahead for purchase of six Sikorsky-Seaking choppers.
The six helicopters are part of the package deal for the purchase of the Landing ship tank USS Trenton, from which the choppers operate.
Maybe there were some other issues. If the missiles and systems were old they could have still sold it to some NATO country. Wasting a 18 yeard old ship is odd indeed.
Victor usually the sum of max load on all hardpoints is greater than the max weapon load. But it could be that the structural reinforcements cause some penalty on the load + fuel combination
Looks like doomsday prophets are out in numbers. Nothing is going to happen. France won’t shoot down the israeli jets and israel isn’t suicidal to actually attack france.
Nice pics Alepou. Would you have pics of any S-300 with greece?
He has no clue what he is babbling about. Let him be. LOL France can’t afford ****!!! LOL I wonder who can then? Hell even Canada, Spain, UK, germany and italy don’t buy american ships.
No the greek eyries don’t have any forward or rear looking radar. The 360 degree claim is bogus. Why add disclaimers like compensared 360 degree if you can actually provide 360 degree coverage? The E-3, phalcon and E-2 provide 360 degree coverage without any compensation.
Well I guess we would know by 2008.
US has naval commitments all over the world to take out PAF no tanker is required. But the navy would still need E-2’s.
India is going for 12 tankers for IAF but the number of tankers is moot. You cannot simply line up one tanker after another to keep mig-29K’s flying. E-2 is necessary, hopefully from ADS-2 on In will have the capability.

Yes, The specs for the carrier flight are max take of weight of 22400 Kg. Assuming 11000kg empty weight and 5240 kg of internal fuel and 2150 litre drop tank (assuming 2000Kg total weight). That still leaves about 4160Kg weapon load. Surely the specs are not given for a CAT assisted launch.
Care to site some issues IN had with russian ships? yes we have seen the israeli ships ordered from US which can’t even carry a full load lest they topple over 🙂 . I can only imagine the tauntrums IN will throw up after the rust bucket trenton arrives but heck it was dirt cheap.
The Mig-29K’s can safely carry a full tank and centreline drop tank containing 2150 litre of fuel along with almost 4 tonne weapon load. I don’t see a big problem with range or load.
The Mig-29 did not come with free “Gorky”. Read up on the indian navies aircraft carrier acquisition by Adm Arun Prakash before you spout out any more rubbish.
And compared to the J-10 whose specs PLAAF is too ashamed to let out the SMT is far superior. FC-1 is not even in the same league. I am sure it was your chinese sense of impartiality that put PLAAF reject like FC-1 and copied aircraft with no public specs like J-10 ahead of SMT.
Why use the Mig-29K then? Su-30 MKI+IL-78+A-50(phalcon) could do the same.
The carrier will definitely protect its fleet but also needs offensive capability to take the fight to enemy’s territory. I don’t mean just anti-ship role but also establish some sort of air superiority which requires a decent AWAC’s. Unfortunately E-2 can barely get off from gorky or ADS.
