So if this was offered to japan, how much would it cost.

The MEKO deal was basically for kickbacks. Indon would be better off with something like talwar class. Cheaper, better more rugged.

Hmmm wonder why american soldiers in Iraq are preffering Ak’s over M-16’s. Why does britain want to rent Mi-17’s and Mi-26 in afghanistan? Yes in avionics russians a little behind but atleast their stuff is rugged and reliable and not a hangar queen.

No IN would never ever have bought the F-18. Period. Rafale maybe but they would have opted for Su-33MKI due to commonality with IAF, which is another thing going in favour of Mig-29K. They designed their second carrier so that it can carry N-LCA and Mig-29k not rafale or whorenet.

That seems to cheap compared to the 258 million per plane that waas being touted around. But honestly I doubt it would be as low as 120 million.

Why? So that instead of russia the money would go to to europeans?? Meko-200 is certainly not required for indonesia. They would be better of buying more patrol ships to counter pirates. Russia can easily provide them with the same. Indon surface fleet is in no condition to fight anyone on the sea, subs give them the only viable deterrent option.

It is well known that piracy in this part of the world is crewed by poor indos or malays, with fundings coming from huge consortiums ranging from HK to Shanghai.
How many boats were found in Shanghai empty after being reported attacked by pirates and the original crew terminated?
Usely, the hull is having a nice paint job in Dailian (ok, half a joke) then sent to Indon for parts or pirating.

Thats why malacca straits are guarded by IN and USN. Let the poor Indon’s decide what they need. Last I remember fierce resistance to USN and IN guarding the straits came from malaysia not indonesia. Frankly subs are better for their defence as they have many islands than some fancy dutch corvette. Of course they will also need patrol boats but thats upto them.

Yes. I don’t know the story behind Ka-52 but the T-80’s were accepted as a part of russia’s debt pay off after they were evaluated and found to be suitable. Korea is not really a tank country they prefer a good Arty any day.

Isn’t GSL supposed to be making the MCMV’s? They were supposed to be delivered by 2008. Any new news about them?

India want to buy Mig-29K, why would the RAfale can be an option ?
BTW in fact, it seems that Russian MAKE India buy it with the carrier.
that speak for the quality of the plane.

Rafale can’t take off from IN carriers end of story. Even if it could have Su-33MKI is a better option than rafale.

So, I stand correct. A bigger plane than the rafale has a better range of “50 km”. By using your way of thinking, the range of the Mig-29 is ridiculous.

No star is right the Mig-29K range is close to 2100km. 1850 is for the old Mig-29K. Rafale in essense has the same range as mirage2k despite larger size.

The name of the winner of the competition has never been released.
Both planes were close, by knowing that the F-15 enjoyed a huge advantage with the ROK using US planes, it only means that the Rafale was ahead globally speaking AND that it was obviously the winner of the competition 🙂
AFter that, Korea bought the F-15 K (without AESA :D) but only to keep the american support.

    [/QUOTE]
The reason russian planes lost is the same. ROK and singapore AF’s use no russian gear. Maybe the F-15k is superior to Rafale, atleast it can be upgraded with AESA radar in future. Does thales even have a plan for AESA?

Or we could let them decide what they want.

They would never have bought the F-18. If the carrier was bigger it would have been su-33MKI for sure. The rafale is too short legged just like Mig-29k. Yeah and we really expected SK and singapore to buy russian stuff. Right!! In both these competitions eurofigher was also eliminated early while a relic like F-15 went on to win it. I guess eurocanard and rafale must suck compared to F-15’s.
