They just seem to love buying up all the 25 year old ships available.
How much life do OPV’s have usually? These are less than 1500 tonnes displacement.

Navy plans joint exercises with U.S., Russia
Sandeep Dik****
In line with the policy of practising in the backyards of friendly navies
NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy will match skills with two of the world’s biggest navies in quick succession next year. A flotilla will sail for the Pacific Ocean to exercise with U.S. forces towards the middle of 2007. It will then join the Russian Navy off the coast of Vladivostok for a round of joint exercises.
This `balanced’ military diplomacy will be interspersed by interaction with ships from the Singapore Navy and a port visit to Japan by a Delhi class destroyer to coincide with the opening of the Festival of India, said a senior naval official.
The ships will also visit ports in South Korea and the Philippines in a tour that will last three months.
The manoeuvres in oceans far removed from the Indian coast are in line with the Navy’s policy of practising in the backyards of friendly navies that have done the same off Indian waters.
Which were those even less influenced countries?? Both korea and singapore and completely under US influence. Though if Japan does make a carrier it will probably opt for JSF or a modified variant like F-2. I don’t think they would but RN could opt for Rafale-M’s.
The photoshop seems to show flankers flying without a ramp or catapult? It doesn’t look like varyag anyway.
Russia train them on what? The Kuz itself rarely moves out into sea. But if they do help then it is a big help for china.
This whole thread is pointless. Rafales are not going to china and Su-33 would be the ideal option considering PLAN already operates Su-27’s. But where is the carrier? Who is going to teach them how to operate one? Russia? France? UK? USA. I doubt it. India had to send their pilots to britain in the 60’s and 70’s and now for STOBAR to USA. Even if Varyag is completed I doubt PLAN would even know how to use it properly until 2015-20 timeframe.
Are there any recent pics of the gorky? That one looks too old.

Scorpene is equipped with six bow-located 21in torpedo tubes providing salvo launch capability. Positive discharge launching is by an air turbine pump. The submarine’s weapons include anti-ship and anti-submarine torpedoes and anti-surface missiles. 18 torpedoes and missiles can be carried, or 30 mines. The handling and loading of weapons is automated.
Do a google search before posting garbage….
Whats the comparision? 1965 PAf did well and held its own. 1971 they tried but IAf bombed pakistan at will and coordinated well with IA,while PAf failed to provide any cover to PA. 1999 PAF failed to turn up.
Yes their tactical brilliance is visible in iraq and afghanistan. 😀
I agree that seems like BS. IAF has no love for whorenet or F-16. I hope they seal it soon this time round.
Why don’t you ask them? I only went there yesterday for the first time. I don’t believe the guy who showed up as PAF pilot is really a pilot either. Don ‘t shoot the messenger.
Hmmm looks like the 32 Fighter wonder flyboys are not really sought after…
Anyone been to this forum. Looks like the american instructors have a very poor opinion of the PAF pilots. It does seem to confirm the lack of enthusiasm PAF has shown in any recent conflict (Kargil or shooting down of atlantique).
Iran was interested in the SMT once but I don’t thin they bought any finally. There were also some reports of them looking at the JF-17.
