I hate to say but with the many poor decision by the Indian Goverment. I really doubt that she is going to become a great Naval Power…….too bad!:(

I agree a lot of poor decisions but thankfully they avoided the mother of all poor decisions by not going for KH. ๐Ÿ˜€ .

The complement as I said would be 1200-1600 not more. The Baku with all its missiles and air group of 26-30 planes never had more than 1600 crew of mainly conscripts. IN can handle it with fewer sailors. 2000 is clearly way more than required. Just because USN ship is very manpower intensive does not mean AG also has to be.

So its more of a counter to US influence. I can see chile opposing it but the others will possibly agree.

I gathered you wanted independence from west? Is france different or trusted? After all france did help british nullify exocets. If all you need is license production then yes money is the only hindrance.

I agree with SeaL, its just bad reporting. No typhoons are up for lease. As for the xia if it can make it to the indian ocean it would be an enormous achievement.

The Akulas (shuka) cannot fire SLBM. It will have to be on the ATV.

    Erm yes they are!

So wow HAL built HF 24 way back when..

Why would they need to develop their own engines? :S They could buy the engines of the shelf if they needed or wanted.

What is the real point of re-inventing the wheel when you can buy it off the shelf?

The Arrogance at DRDO and the RED TAPE mentality/culture that is HAL/DRDO caused the issues with LCA and Kaveri.

This does not mean everyone else in the world has to follow those rules if they want to build their own fighter.

Yes they could buy them off the shelf but then they should shut up about being independent of the west  . It is not DRDO’s arrogance that GTRE is a big f**k up. If you don’t have a clue about why India went with Lockheed and not the French just say so. There are enough people on BR who will enlighten you. By your standards even pakistan has a fighter, kudos to them.

Brazil, Embraer is better placed to develop a fighter than HAL/DRDO/NAL/ADA were when it first started out with the LCA. If the will existed to build a LCA type aircraft they could do it in a suprisingly rapid rate!

Errr no they are not. LCA is held up thanks to GTRE’s Kaveri. Embraer has zero experience building engines forget a jet engine. All Embraer planes have engines sourced from outside. HAL has more experience with HF-24 which lack of fore sight prevented from leading upto HF-73.

Who said India needs SLBM for Pakistan?? This is just a first step, the Agni-3 SL has been in the works for a while. Anyway this was apparently the fifth or sixth launch of this missile. A 700-1500 Km missile does not complete nuke triad the same way ABM capability against 2500 Km range BM’s does not constitute complete ballistic missile defence.

SSK’s dont have the range or speed of SSN’s. They are good for coastal and littoral patrolling. Being quieter they do have an advantage in coastal waters.

The ex-Gorshkov and IAC’s would require at least 2,000 plus per ship……as for what India can handle. Well, I think that is up to them……..clearly they are capable enough.;)

Nope, 1200-1500 is the estimated crew size.

NO but for SA to form the kind of block you are suggesting. They would have to be able to develop these things independently. Else they still dependent on others.

TAM was designed by German Thyssen-Henschel and the IAe.27 Pulqui I by french man ร‰mile Dewoitine and IAe.33 Pulqui II by kurt tank. The osorio seems intersting but sad it went under. Once again were the powerplants for any of these built by SA nations or were they simply bouht from europe? The Ch-14 on the otherhand seems wholly made in argentia?

NATO is an expeditionary force. I am sorry but I can agree that SA nations can form a collective defense pact but I do not see them able to project power outwards like NATO. Even collectively their economies cannot sustain more than 3 carriers. EU on the other hand will soon have 7 carriers and they can easily afford them.
What do you mean idependent from foriegn powers? Brazil is already a progressive economy and important BRIC member. It has the resources to develop on its own. Mercosur seems like a trade block not a defence pact that you seem to envisage.

The true is the 4th Generation Mig-29K is hardly in the same class as the 4.5 Generation Super Hornet or Rafale…………….:diablo:

Radar wise probably. If K does ever et El-2052 I wouldn’t want to be in a hornet or rafale.
