Thanks for the photo, I’m glad to see they do. XR806 “George Thompson” is a particular interest of mine. An old friend of mine, sadly now passed away, trained with Thompson and always related the story of his VC to me.

Is XR806 due anytime soon or has it already left service?? I’d love a final photo before she’s due to be “recycled”.

Great video, takes me back to my days at BZN. I have to say though, I prefered them in white. Shame they’re being disposed of but I guess they couldn’t go on forever.

Do they still carry the names of the VC’s ?

We managed to convince the crew to allow us to drive through the C5 attending IAD 90…..

That’s correct for the camo C5’s, one appeared at IAD 84, the other at IAD 90 as in my two pics above. Must admit that I thought I took the above photo’s mid afternoon (ish), can’t really remember. I shall have to check the video footage, that”ll give the time I think. I will find the photo of the IAD 84 appearance and post ‘dreckly, got a feeling that was the evening arrival chox.

Lovely shots James, particularly the Jags 😀

    …and Concorde..

Flight Checkers Andover – nice to see again, it’s been a while.

…and speaking of Concorde…..can’t remember the year though. It came in on a charter for Air Day. Flew a trip round the Bay of Biscay for those who had prebooked, sub sonic though.

Regular visitors to St Mawgan in the 80’s were the RP3’s of VXN 8. I worked closely with this squadron during my time running the Flight Planning section.

    Meanwhile, back in Cornwall……………..

Like videoing the C-5 Galaxy landing while standing right next to the runway, then being blown over in its tremendous wake which happened after quite a long pause!

    That’ll be this one then….

We’re doing ok……..but there is something missing………..Mmm, now what is it? ……Oh, yes BL**Dy JET NOISE and low fly bys, multi jet launch’s like the Jags in the above photo (excellent by the way) Stream take offs, Run and breaks, dead side joins etc, etc, decent military hard ware and a decent International Air Day !! Still, here’s to the future. 🙂

Dr S you’re not forgotten, we know you’re there, see you through the fence most days. 😉
