Monarch A330
I think (Wingflaps2 – please correct me if I am wrong) that Monarch’s A330 go to ZRH for engineering work. As far as I am aware, the MON aircraft being re-liveried go to NWI.
I, for one, cannot wait to see the Monarch A330s in the new livery. Call me biased, but I do think it is one the nicest liveries on the go at the mo. So far, it’s had a magnificent thumbs-up from most.
BAe146 3+3
Well bugger me!! You know, I never knew that 3+3 config was possible on the BAe146 family. Back in the olden days when I worked for Business Air, we had a BAe146-200 that used to operate LCY/FRA/LCY, LCY/HAM/LCY and GLA/FRA/GLA (at weekends only on behalf of the LH big brother). I’m almost certain that this aircraft was in a 3 + 2 config. However, I never flew on the thing.
I believe that the aircraft went to British Regional and operated INV/LGW/INV. Anyone know if it is still doing this route?
Ta!
Dean.
A living nightmare!!
Thanks Matthew for doing that (i think!). Thanks Ren for prompting it!
Murray – now what a fabulous name you have there!!
Regards,
Dean Murray.
Which Airline?
Someone should point out to the photographer of the photo on the link at the top that it is “British Airways” and not “Britannia Airways” – I was briefly looking forward to seeing a very unusual looking Avro RJ100 in the BY colourscheme whilst it loaded – I thought I had missed something – Britannia? Avro RJ100??!!!
Alas, I was let down – it turned out only to be a B(land) A(irways) aircraft.
****s!
PLEASE tell me it was in the end operated by the 707 and that someone at the airline saw the reason for the surge in demand ??!!??
I think “what the ????” was the correct title for this thread.
Slybe.
Last weekend, myself and, fellow forum member, Wingflaps2 were eyeing up LGW/GCI/LGW with Flybe. taking advantage of their £19.98 return offer – but, alas, they had only one seat left at that particular fare on the day we wanted to go!! Boo! Hiss!
I still have a slight chip on my shoulder with Flybe. as they now are (Wingflaps2 will tell you it is a BIG chip!). Back in the days of the full blown British European livery, I booked LCY/ABZ/LCY to go home to Scotland for a week, knowing it was operated with a BAe146. To my utter disappointment/disgust/dismay (and several other words beginning with ‘dis’), the aircraft type was changed from the lovely BAe146 to a friggin Dash8-100. The flight took 1hour 55 mins in the end!! Not that the Dash8-100 was reason for the disappointment itself, I had never flown on that aircraft either – but it just wasn’t the BAe146!!
The twitch isn’t so frequent now whenever I hear the words British European but it is still there!!!
Should they be the airline that breaks my BAe146 virginity, all with be forgiven – until then, they have a bit of work to do to get up near the top in my ‘fave airline’ stakes!!
I’m not bitter, more sour.
Sorry to those of you who may have briefly noticed that I had posted this reply as a new thread accidently. It is early and it is Sunday!!
Congratulations – it’s a ‘Boy’ing!!

I’m not impressed by that at all……..could have been a bit more in line with the ‘magic’ in the name
Hate to be a pessimist, but……
I reckon that bmibaby are expanding too fast and will make costly mistakes, if they haven’t already made them. I hear that their Cardiff loads (well “loads” wouldn’t be the right word to use – if you catch my drift!) are minging. Anyone care to comment?
I reckon that in the next 6 months, one of the new kids on the block will give up the ghost. Am I alone with these thoughts? I know there is going to be increased demand for air travel in the coming years and more capacity will be necessary but if these boys don’t do it slowly, will they last?
I’m not trying to stir up a hornet’s nest here – just voicing an opinion.
Good luck to bmibaby at MME.

I worked for Gill Airways from 1997 – 1999 in the Revenue Accounts dept at NCL. They had a fantastic bunch of staff work for them and the atmosphere in the head office was laid back and light hearted. Most people were very proud to work for the company. I moved to Newcastle from Scotland and was immediately made welcome at the company. I only left to better my career in the industry, otherwise I would have stayed in NCL permanently – even after the demise of the airline.
Out of interest, which routes did you use? I managed to use NCL/ABZ, NCL/BHD, BHD/PIK and NCL/CDG during my time there.
I quite like that livery. Not as good as Monarch’s newy though!!

Seems no-one knows the answer to your riddle – so come on then – spit it out!
I knew it couldn’t have been Monarch, for the reason Wingflaps2 states.

I went to Prague on a daytrip in February. It is a really lovely city and in the snow, it looked fantastic. So many nice places to visit, walk, eat and drink in. I’d love to go back for a few more days soon. It is also very cheap.
You should go!

Wingflaps2. Having thought about it, I thought your favourite defunct airline would have been Flybe!!!
Wingflaps2 – I’ll give you a 1000 brownie points if you can tell me what the DAN in DAN AIR stood for……… answers on a postcard (or a reply to this forum might work out better!)
