    RE: Swedish Invader

The Invader in the picture is Scandinavian Historic Flight’s example.

Are you sure you are not thinking of the dutch Invader that was sold
    to the US last year.

    RE: ID of German compass

    Hi!

    Thanks for the replies.
The gimbal type of mounting might very well tell
us that it is from a boat.
However, what made us think that it might have been used in an
aircraft, was that my colleague showed it to a retired mechanic that
    came to visit at work.
This guy used to work at Ju-52’s after the war and said that the
compass looked like the one mounted between the pilot in this
    aircraft.
(I did not mention this in the previous post because I would not
    give away any leading clues..)

I also searched the web yesterday and found a very blurred picture
of a Ju-52 cockpit that showed what locked like a box with
a plexiglas lid containing a large compass between the pilots.
(Of course I forgot to save that picture….)

The search for the answer continues…Thanks so far!

    RE: Gladiators at Kjeller, Norway

I am pretty sure this picture is from Kjeller.
The main base for the Gladiators where Kjeller and if you
look at the hangar roof in the background you see the letters “KJE”..

    RE: Mosquito at Gardermoen?

I think the aircraft definitly looks like its under maintenance and
    not left there to rot..
Why could the aircraft not be visitor to Gardermoen just after
the war, and in need of a compass swing before it left for Scotland?

    RE: Mosquito at Gardermoen?

    Thanks for your info!

If I am correct, the hangar in the background is what
we in Norway refer to as “tyskerhangar” or German hangar.
Even today you can find one or two of these German WWII hangars
on most miltary airbases in Norway.
I guess these where built similar to hundreds(?) of the same type
all over Europe, but fortunatly none where ever built in Scotland….

So, that is why I speculate on Gardermoen as the
    location.
