As far as I know A4 weren´t fitted with AA missiles. At least the ones taking off from land bases. Main point is the A4/Daggers attaking the fleet (or troops) were pretty much defenceless against H/ SH. Remember 20mm Colt gun has never been a reliable weapon. MIII were supossed to engage H/ SH but…

I wonder if the extreme wing tanks can be ripped off due to G forces in a very closed turn. Specially considering the possibility of remaining fuel in it. That is consistent with the lack of explosions

As for the carriers in the falklands, if one of the carriers had been lost, the task force may have been withdrawn, however it probably would have been back several months later with bulwark and illustrious as well as more Type 42 destroyers fitted with the brand now and more capable 1022, rather then the 1960’s era type 965 radar.
And resupply of the Islands would have to be via aircraft as the UK Nuclear submarines would make any attempt to resupply by sea, suicide.

In a british withdraw scenario Thatcher would fall (as the argie dictatorship did). If not, it takes at least six months to a full year to set up Corporate 2. Of course Argentina would have plenty of time for her fleet to be ready (SSKs included), get some new fighters (maybe from URSS), extend Port Stanley runway, deploy mines and, what matters the most, to get 30 or 50 AM-39 exocets. A real nightmare scenario for the RN.
I can easily imagine the war extending to non Falkland places.
Do you think nukes would be an option in that scenario?

I think it´s very hard for a light carrier to survive in a real hostile environment. There are multiple threats, like long range or sub launched missiles, saturation attack from different angles…
No doubt F-35 will help, specially with AEW support but the sub menace will remain as a major concern.

I agree. I´m very aware we are just guests and of course it´s not our goal to bother other forum members. But a thread “argie only” is pointless. The whole idea is to find some room to exchange info about Falklands and have a better understanding of the other side.
    It´s up to the Mods.

    Suggestion

I think that this should be discussed in a new topic, something like “Falklands campaign” or so. And perhaps, I´m thrilled with the idea, some british “forist” (Pánzon, need some help, by “forist” i mean “someone from the members list”) may ask researchers and veterans to join the chat. It would be amazing to overcame our differences and find out the truth, no matter how painful it is.

    I´m not THAT misinformed 😀 😀 😀
Ushuaia used to be Almirante Irizar´s starting line for the antartic campaign. Dock is about 100 yards away from my desk.

The armada argentina S-2T turbo tracker and seakings also looks great.
New ex-usn seakings should be commissioned soon in the armada argentina

Didn´t know that. Shame on me!
