No no no no NO NO NOOOOOOO!!! You’re all very wrong, actually you couldn’t be more wrong. It’s an “Hyperxenomorphicstructuatedgoogleplex” craft from the planet…….”Wic”. (Look up vertical to your right at precisely 3:23:17am and you’ll see) I know because I was abducted by it, (Or another of its kind) 3 years ago, really….I did, honest, they, (The “Wiclings”) done “tests” and were very surprised that I had 2 testicles rather than just the 1 like they have. After a lengthy conversation they were kind enough to drop me off at a weed cafe in Amsterdam where I woke up. Fact!

EADS proposed to establish a long-term strategic partnership with Indian aerospace and defence companies. Speaking at a press conference during Aero India 2009, Bernhard Gerwert, CEO of Military Air Systems, an integrated Business Unit of EADS Defence & Security, said in Bangalore: “We have a strong interest to create a long-lasting strategic partnership with Indian aerospace and defence companies and we are committed to bring our capabilities, skills and technologies into this win-win-partnership.”
The CEO said: “India is our partner of choice and therefore we invite India to join the Eurofighter Typhoon programme as a partner. We are ready to listen and to learn from our Indian customers and industrial partners.”
A competitive Eurofighter Typhoon bid proposal and a comprehensive offset offer were submitted to the Indian authorities in 2008. Since then, 25 Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) were already signed to enhance the industrial cooperation with India’s aerospace and defence industry. The Eurofighter Typhoon partner companies are confident to fulfill the 50 percent offset obligation of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and will offer India access to an international sourcing network of unparalleled scope.
The production of the Eurofighter Typhoon will create thousands of new jobs in India. The leading-edge combat aircraft has a tremendous built-in growth potential and therefore the Eurofighter partner companies are able to offer India new opportunities for future cooperation in design, development and manufacturing. Gerwert said: “We are ready to provide our operational, support, engineering and development capabilities to the Indian aerospace and defence sector which is growing fast and we want to grow together with this dynamic development.”
EADS which has the lead of the Eurofighter Typhoon campaign in India, is currently preparing its participation in the flight trials of the Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) competition. The flight trials are expected in 2009 after a shortlisting of the bidders and intensive preparations have been launched to meet this important milestone. Gerwert stated: “We are very grateful that the German Air Force deployed three Eurofighter Typhoon to Bangalore. It is the very first time that Eurofighter Typhoon flies in the Indian air space and therefore they will be a major highlight at Aero India 2009.” The ongoing campaign is fully supported by the four European nations Germany, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy, their four Air Forces and Europe’s leading aerospace companies Alenia/Finmeccanica, BAE Systems and EADS.
The CEO of Eurofighter GmbH, Aloysius Rauen, stated that Eurofighter Typhoon is currently the most modern combat aircraft available on the world market. Rauen said: “Eurofighter Typhoon is clearly in the pole position with an order book of more than 700 aircraft for six nations.” In addition to the four core nations Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and Italy, Austria and Saudi Arabia are the first two export customers. It is expected that there will be more customers and orders in the forthcoming years because several nations already expressed their strong interest in the Eurofighter Typhoon. Amongst them are Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Japan, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia. The economic significance of the Eurofighter Typhoon programme is based on an order backlog of more than 19 bn EUR with annual revenues of about 3.5 bn EUR. More than 400 companies and over 100,000 jobs are currently involved in the European programme.
Personally, I don’t see anything distasteful in the clip. Just a ex-USN Seal shooting a gun at a target! Also, on this forum we discuss “Weapons of War”. So, if that so offends you? Maybe you should consider another forum………
Maybe he, (haavarla) has had a bad experience in his life with such of thing? i.e. “i have served in the Army and seen what kind of damage weapons like these can do..”? Maybe a bit of a clue there…..Thought about that?
Note: He said; “Weapons like THESE”, i.e, a gun, not an aeroplane he was pointing at. Yes, both objects are/can be “Weapons Of War”, the gun being a not a very nice thing that exists, only has one purpose, where as an aeroplane, you can look at it in so many different ways, good ways, dispite what it does…
Read through peoples posts once or twice & then think on what to say.
Anyway…
C’mon, back on topic, it was getting interesting before…
Jackonicko’s right. As far as I know, the RAF have always practiced air to air combat, whether in mud-movers or dedicated intercepters/fighters. If anyone doesn’t belive they have or do then I suggest you do a little research on such things, internet, books, magazines, first hand chit-chat from pilots themselves, British or not etc. You always hear stories of Jaguars, Buccaneers being a pain in the rectum for F-15’s & what not in exercises, all sorts of things. Like I said, as far as I know the RAF practiced air to air in the old days and still do today, hell, I’d happily bet ยฃ10 that theres a couple of poor sods in a Tornado GR4 trying to get a lock on onto a Typhoon F2 right now.
Well, the point is the power at be in Japan. Very much believe they need the F-22 and are willing to spend a great deal to get it……..
So it seems. But the Typhoon is no Santa’s sledge neither, I wouldn’t want to go against it in ANY aircraft. ‘IF’ Japan does decide to go with Typhoon, it’d be a very good choice in my opinion, especially with the upgrades and with what ever else bells & whistles that we don’t know about it’ll be added on to it etc.
But if the F-22 is what they really want, then good luck to them….If they want to spend a ridiculous amount of money for them….Pffft then they’re welcome to it. Like I said before, I’d want a hell of A LOT more for that amount.
It’s obvious he’s saying this to convince the congress into buying more F-22’s and maybe more F-35’s. Lets face it, if the F-22 & F-35 didn’t exist, he’d say the F-15’s, 16’s etc were better than any Sukhio……Probably…
Well, if they don’t need the Raptor. I don’t see why they would need the Typhoon either……………;)
Well, if they don’t need the F-22 and the Typhoon, then they don’t need anything else… ๐
I doubt they would pay $300 Million Per Copy. Clearly, that is not fly away cost……..
No sh*t?…
Japan needs in now!
Yeah, they need to pay $300 million per F-22 because you know, they’re desperate because of all these air to air battles thats going on right NOW!!!……
No fighter in the world is worth $300 million each, I don’t give a monkeys toss what it is, especially if it’d be a down graded version. (The US don’t seem to want to share tech on the F-35 with it’s “Partners” so sure as hell they’re not going to share it on their golden god made F-22’s).
If I paid $300 million per F-22, EACH ONE would have to come with a FREE flux capacitor, a talking monkey, (Not Bush) and a MOON!!!
:confused:German Fulcrums in the US, anyone?
Quite right. I’m 110% sure some were shipped to the US where the USAF fully stripped them to analyze the technology, performance etc. They’ve been to the UK too I think?…
Unless they mean it’s the first time they’ve sent their aircraft to another country for evaluation?…
I think it’s safe to assume the plane was named after the family of birds of prey, not the dinosaur.
Recently we’ve been to a pair events sponsored by the regional raptor preservation center.
Saw hawks, owls, even a bald eagle.
No dinosaurs. I’ll llet you know if I see one.
Wasn’t it someone from the USAF or LM that named it after the “velociraptor” from the movie; “Jurassic Park”?…You know? The movie about “Dinosaurs”…”Velociraptor”….Related to the “Bird”….
Who cares…..
“Germans to participate in Aero India 2009”.
BANGALORE: Brace yourselves for the โLuftwaffeโ, which dominated the skies over Europe with their tactical fighters during World War- II, and will soon be seen over the city skies. But this time they will not be unleashing their blitzkrieg doctrine which they resorted to during the War and instead will be indulging in different tactics to woo the audience at the Aero India 2009 and also create an lasting impression on the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft belonging to the German Air Force will arrive at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka on February 5 to take part in the bi-annual show. The Eurofighter Typhoon, which will be making itโs debut in India, is among the six contenders that are lobbying to bag the contract for the 126 multi-role combat aircraft from the IAF. Officials from European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company(EADS), which is the major partner in the Eurofighter consortium, told Expresso that the four aircraft belonging to the German Air Force will take part in the airshow. โA total of four Eurofighter Typhoons will be seen at Aero India for the first time. The aircraft which comprises both the two and four seat variants, will also be taking part in the flight displays,โ said an official.
This is the f irst time the German Air Force is sending itโs fighters outside Europe since the World War-II. Post war, the German Air Force has been largely confined to self defence.
โThe decision to fly itโs aircraft to India is seen as a step where the Germans want to open up. This is seen as an exposure for a long range deployment and future NATO assignments in Afghanistan,โ said defence sources. The German Air Force is also toying with the idea of having a guest to co-pilot the Eurofighter Typhoon which is considered to be a highly agile air superiority and air-to-surface, multir o l e / sw i n g – r o l e weapon system, making it the most capable front line fighter available.
Wondering if the JASDF will ever have the Meteor, ASRAAM, IRST-T or any other European missile in the future?…
I managed to find a list of the goofs in the film, it is quite funny to watch the film with this list and tear it to pieces!
OMG “Someone” actually must’ve sat down with a pen, note pad & looked for all those mistakes in the movie….Haven’t they got anything else better to do? I thought I spotted a few, but jesus….LOL
Aaaaaaaaaaahh yeeeeeessssss!!!….The Top Gun movie, or, as I like to put it, “The US Navy Recruitment Video”. Ah ha haaa!…
I remember watching it as a kid & thinking; “Woah thats so cool, I wanna do that,, and pretending I was flying an F-14 when in actual fact I was just sitting on & peddling around the front garden on my little pedal tractor, and every now & then my mum would shout; “Wayne! Stop running over the garden flowers & stop throwing your sisters dolls at things”.(Because you know, my sisters dolls replicated the AIM-9 and Sparrow missiles). Nice days! ๐ It was probably my favourite movie when I was a kid.
But…I watched it a couple of weeks ago and OMG what a load of SH*T it really is, the “Mig-28”, (I.e. an F-5), cocky pilots with tiny d*cks & their BRILLIANT WHITE TEETH, the bit where they role over to cockpit to cockpit taking a picture then giving the finger, (Always wondered how the vertical tails never touched), using the same scene of the Sparrow being “Fired” a few times, and to my memory using the Sparrow in the “Dogfight”……And why the hell was his navigator/WSO called “Goose”?…He hardly flew when he ejected did he?………Sorry couldn’t resist. ๐
Load of crap, but you know, it’s just one of those movies you want to watch, I’ll probably end up watching it again because it’s not something you take serious, it’s just a FUN movie to watch.
Want to watch something with air to air combat…..Watch ‘Battle Of Britain’, great movie, a BILLION, ZILLION times better than Top Gun.
And as Edward Fox says in the Battle Of Britian; “You can teach monkeys to fly better than that”. Classic film, one of my all time favourites along with the Dambusters.
