I will be very surprised, once Bulava testing has been completed, if the Donskoii is not then fully fitted with Bulava itself. Considering the money they have injected into refurbing it and getting it back into service.
And the ‘extra’ tubes on the Improved Akula and Akula II are actually hatches for the large MG-74 decoys. If the hatches on top on the bow and either side of the torpedo loading hatch are what you refer to.
Hurricane? I have no idea where or when though.
An air-launched version would certainly make the naval Kamovs more lethal.
The only sure way to take out an airfield for any serious length of time, if not permanently is to arm your missiles with nuclear warheads. But, we are not talking about that element are we. The only way to effectively do some serious lengthy damage to an airbase with Ballistic missiles would be to literally shower it with more than a few, but a few dozen, perhaps more! And then, hope for some crucial hits.
The Chinese I think know this, and they have hundreds of short range missiles targetted at Taiwan and quite likely key airfeilds too.
Unfortunately I have to agree with Harry to a point. It was ok, but NOT great. Could have been done so much better! Another inaccurate detail was the Alien’s blood. It is supposed to oxidise after death and become harmless, but it wasn’t. It was still able to burn even long after the Aliens had been killed. This fact was established in the second movie Aliens.
I enjoyed watching it simply because it had my two favourite big screen aliens in battle, but otherwise it just didn’t really grab me at all. 🙁
They go back in time? Been done before, I believe in the original series of Star Trek too. Could be interesting to see this one though.
How effective would it be using these mobile ICBMs to target enemy airfields and other high priority targets? Can they actually be used effectively to keep an airfield out of operation, or in that matter hit it effectively and destroy the aircraft on it at least. How big are the warheads of these modern ICBMs like Iskander?
Are you talking about nuclear warheads, or conventional ones? And Iskander is not an ICBM.
Did they notify the US? If so, then we might be able to confirm for sure the designations.
DF-11? Could be…
The only one I know is No.4, the Martin P4M Mercator.
For jets, I’d suggest around 1/500 or faster if the camera allows. You need a rather slower speed for props otherwise you suffer from “frozen prop syndrome”! I use around 1/180 or 1/125 when possible.
Hope this helps. Do post the pics next week.

Thanks CM, will do. 🙂
Surprised no one seems to have caught and posted it.
You just did, didn’t you? 😉
Seriously, any news on seeker, warhead, and launcher?
The weapon is about 2.5m long and 20cm in diameter, and weighs 160kg at launch.
Roughly in the same class as the UK Sea Skua missile, but with more range.
The Sea Skua
AvP is about to open here in Australia, and I will see it this week. 🙂
It has grossed $79,502,544 after 7 weeks so far in the US. Let’s see how long it will be showing down here.
I am glad that everyone seems to be enjoying this topic. It was a good idea after all! 🙂
Cheers everyone for your confessions of aviations nuts. 🙂
