VERY cool Mirage!! Reminds me of the black painted Drakens in the American movie Firebirds with Nicholas Cage. 😀

The future of the F-111 beyond the next 6 years is in so much doubt at the moment that I don’t see it ever happening. I suspect we will wait for the F-35 and something more modern like the JASSM or JSOW.

That huge supersonic missile, was it the P-750 Grom (AS-X-19)?

The early artwork of the Mig-29 I have seen in one of my books. I think it was based on early US satelite pics of the prototype dubbed ‘RAM-L’ taken at Zhukovski Air Base, then known to the US as ‘Ramenskoye’.

Because they tell stories like that and would never be validated in the coming years, e.g. China wants to buy MiG-31s and Akula subs.

So a series of never-eventuated rumours from them has us taking what they say with a grain of salt then?

Expect to see the RAAF acquire something like the AIM-120D or Meteor in time as well. 🙂

This pic I think is of the rotary launcher in the Tu-160’s bomb bay loaded with Kh-55 missiles. How many can the Tu-160 carry internally this way?

Ok, James Cameron has been pretty quiet of late. Time to get him back involved, especially if Alien 5 will turn out to be a big action flick?

And what of the title? ‘Alien 5’ just sounds so generic, what about Alien: “?” ?

    Alien: The Conquest
    Aliens II
    …. others?

The Air Force are missing the Raven. Actuall Op tempo since the end of the Cold War has increased, and yet so much has been shelved to reflect budget changes through the 90’s. The EB-52 is another reason why the BUFF will be around for quite a while to come.

The Backfire is so ’70s. I’m not sure that it still can play a part in today’s warfare?

If the Chinese ever did get them they would be used the same way the Soviets intended against NATO fleets; as supersonic long-range missile carriers. For this role they excell. I think their presence in China, again if it happened, would worry the USN and any other potentially hostile fleet, but maybe only to the point of contemplating a pre-emptive strike on their base(s) to them out of the equation of any future conflict. Ala Clancy and Red Storm Rising.

On the Hong Kong papers, why are they so full of crap?
