Sorry Glen, no clue as to origin of the emblem. You wouldn’t happen to have any photos of Iraqi aircraft during the pro-axis period by any chance?
Only in one of my books and I don’t recall which one unfortunately…
🙁
Time will tell I guess for QANTAS. But they could very well just end up ordering more A330-200s.
Both NIIR and NIIP are engaged in a contest to see who will successfully develop an AESA radar for the PAK FA first.
So they are proceeding with an AESA after all. I read quite a while ago now that it might be too expensive to develop for the PAK-FA considering the budget set aside for the program (USD$2 billion IIRC). I guess not.
Reputation..
I have received a reputation vote from someone, Thanks. But I don’t see it written anywhere (in the FAQ secton) on the upgraded forum how this function is expained. I have figured out the symbol and function myself by playing around a bit anway.
The person who voted for me asked me a question: Why the name change?
Well my old profile handle was just ‘Glenn’, and for some reason I have not been able to ressurrect that old profile, so I made a new one; GDL. 🙂
BTW, the reputation icon below if anyone is wondering..
What sort of upgrade the MiG-27 will undergo?is it all about the ergonomics of the aircraft?
This might help:The MiG-27 Upgrade
eh? F-16I is BLK 62? Wonder what the Actual UAE F-16 BLK 60 is going to be called then
The UAE’s Block 60 Desert Falcon has already been dubbed the F-16E/F by Lockheed-Martin.
It’s a Czech website, but thanks anyway.
Vympel,
The figure I have seen for the R-77M makes it longer than the original. 4.1 m as opposed to 3.6m. The new rocket motor may be larger. Add this to the Ramjet as well and you might have quite a reach. First range figures I saw a couple of years ago were 93nm, or 172km!
What exactly is the point of fitting the Litening to the B-52??
Wouldn’t they just use JDAM-type weapons or of course cruise missiles?
What can the Litening give the B-52 that it really needs?
I think it was in Afghanistan the B-52 used JDAM for the first time, or was it the B-1? I don’t remember.
Imagine what kind of LGB load the B-52 could haul! With a load like that and the right conditions the B-52 could loiter for ages and provide some very accurate pin point strikes, and stick around for some BDA as well. I think it would a useful addition.
You can definitely still upload pics, but I wonder what the file size limits are now though. It was 102kb previously.
Why is everybody buying Su-30s these days?
They are a 2nd generation multi-role FLANKER, as well as being an affordable and a very versatile (read: deadly, at least on paper) platform. Especially for those that have limited access to the nearest Western equivalent hardware. Or, simply can’t afford the often more expensive Western equipment, and/or don’t have the political clout to obtain it and all the weaponry to match.
Iraqi yes, but other than that JJ is right. It’s the kill marking borne by the aircraft which destroyed Iraq’s nuclear reactor in 1981. This specific aircraft is 243, the plane Ilan Ramon flew at the time.
Thanks skythe. I have seen that Iraqi symbol (roundel) depicted on artwork of a Luftwaffe Me 110 that they flew for the pro-Axis Iraqi government during WW2. Do you know the origin or meaning of that symbol?
Is this the logo?
( 75 x75 )
Thats the one! 🙂 Still too big though, needs to be 70 x 70. Could someone down size it for me?? Pretty please. 😀
[Edit: never mind, got it done already!]
“As for Cobra, I don’t know it’s very old and I’d rather go for something much newer.”
Ja said something about the Cobra being old too and I must say I’m rather confused….
The Cobra you see today (AH-1Z for example) is NOTHING like the original variants that saw combat in Vietnam except for basic shape.
The Z model being offered for export would be a totally new-build aircraft.
Even the examples the Marines are converting from AH-1W’s will be new in many areas.
So I’m at a loss for words as to how anyone could claim that it’s old….
Agree with PhantomII. Essentially a new helo is the AH-1Z. And the Turks like it! 🙂
yes Qantas could be a potential customer….not for replacing aircrafts but simply growth.
KabirT, exactly. If you read the artcile I posted in this thread earlier you will see how the 7E7 will open up more daily European routes for QF flights.. This will have a major effect on tourism here in reverse as well, which is my profession. Indeed growth! 🙂

Whats that big black box?
This has come up before. If I recall, its an flight instrumentation data pod of some kind used for flight evaluation.
