I have a feeling the Russian FULCRUM fleet will start to go when and IF the PAK-FA appears and enters production.

Could be one reason why they are prioritizing the FLANKER upgrade instead.

SOC is right when looking at the fine differences between the FULCRUM models, it is easier to use factory designations.

The 9.13S (late model FULCRUM-C), does it use the N-019M radar for R-77 integration?

Probably the biggest X factor in the military aviation world today; the final unit cost of the F-35.

The 10 x AIM-120 and 2 x AIM-9 is about a 3,730 pound load, and with only a central fuel tank and all that drag it might have good combat persistence, but not a lot of range.

I recently read that the Russian AF has given a lot of priority funding to the continued development of the Su-34.

Would make an excellent FENCER replacement.

I dont know how reliable the source is, so there you go…3 ACs by 2k8-10, setting up the scene to become superpower by 2020 goodluck

Strategy page has been discredited for other info in the past, so I would take this report with a huge barrel of salt. A couple of Chinese friends of mine have already told me to regard this report as bunk.

There is absolutely no physical evidence in Chinese yards to indicate they are building 40,000-ton class CVs, LET ALONE 3!

I am pretty positive I read years ago that the Blue Vixen is based on the AN/APG-65.

Figures I have for the APG-77 are 230 km against a fighter-sized target, and 490 km against a bomber-sized target.

Although the mode is not mentioned, I would guess at either velocity search (VS), or range-while-search (RWS).

What about qualifications I wonder? What would it take to get a job with them?

i think the max Gs you pull on an amusement park ride is around 4gs. i cant remember the name of that ride – it shoots you straight up at very high acceleration.

I think this is the one you mean.

I have been on it and what a RUSH. The take off is I think the closet thing I will ever get to a cat launch off a carrier.

Site quotes 4.5G for this ride.

Do they supply anything to the Gripen by any chance?

Good question! not 100% sure. Would have to look at the contract again, if I can find info on it now. Unless someone has any idea sooner……….

Vol.11 of the IAPR Journal has the F/A-18E/F as the focus aircraft, and RHINO is mentioned in there. I got my copy a couple of weeks ago.

I feel for the F-4 lovers, and I guess the veterans that flew it. But after all its just a name, will the Super Hornet ever live up to the F-4s legendary reputation? That remains to be seen.
