ZRX61 ~ I hope you won’t be too upset when you see I’ve downloaded one of your images and given it a tweak in photoshop ….. 🙂

What a fantastic moment in time !

I’m happy to be corrected ~ it looks to me like ….. [ Left to Right ]
    G-BEDF ~ “Gee Whiz” / F-BEEA ~ “Baby Ruth” / N3703G “Mary Lou”

I’ve based this on some work I did earlier

Which begs the question ~ which one were you in when you took the picture ?

As far as the B-17 goes ~ there’s going to be only one way to prevent a olive drab or silver repaint debate :diablo:

Pic a scheme with nose art, a good mission count and paint it half and half !

While I’m sure that some of these images will have “propliner” fans drooling over their keyboards ~ I love the timeless quality of seeing a Chipmunk basking on the grass on a sunny day.

Well done to Tony for scanning these and David for posting them.

    More please 🙂

I think Benyboy has it right. Concorde will be a unique rooftop signpost for another river restaurant and bar on the Thames.

The Concorde angle enables them to pitch for the top end of the market with prices to match. After all ~ bankers and stockbrokers have to eat somewhere.
Put a “celebrity” chief in the kitchen and …… :diablo:

What used to be the NatWest building in the city has a champagne bar at the top which offers great views across London.

Oh and you only keep the reserved table for about 90 mins before you’re presented with the bill.

This idea may not be our cup of tea as aviation enthusiasts ~ but I can see how it would work.

If it raises awareness of the UK’s aviation heritage by planting an iconic aircraft where it will be seen by thousands of visitors to London ~ can that be a bad thing ?

Just as an “Aide Memoir” ….. nine turbines ~ each one is 415 feet high from base to the blade tip.

PLUS ~ they will be sited on a hill that’s 65 metres higher than the Duxford runway.

So that’s potentially an ‘obstacle’ thats 628 feet higher than the runway.

Yep thats the field in question.

Only the Red Arrows display extended as far as the hill itself ~ coming overhead in formation twice.

Being a “local” resident with a Heydon address I just happened to have been on the hill during last Septembers Duxford airshow to watch the Red Arrows.

The line used for the run in would be VERY close where these 11 turbines are planned to be sited.

My guess is Fowlmere will also be effected ~ being geographically closer

If you take a look at ……

    Googlemap http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

and take a straight line from the golf club up the hill to Heydon ~ thats the field they plan to use.

Duxford is 35 metres above sea level ~ Heydon is 100 m. So potentially add another 65 m to the 100 m plus of the turbine blades.

Oh and the view from this vantage point is the most stunning in the area.
And thats exactly where they now want to put the turbines !

I’ve been working through the video I shot during Thunder Over Michigan in 2010. Flying on the formation practice flight was one of those moments that will stay in my memory for the rest of my life !

Brian ~ Nice to meet you last Saturday.

I’m planning to be around tomorrow too in the hope of capturing some images of Sally B crew training …… assuming the info on the web site is still correct 🙂

Russell, I’d like to voice my thanks for an excellent day on Saturday.

The hospitality shown by you and your dedicated team was marvellous.

To anyone reading this forum who wants to get up close and personal to a living, fire breathing Cold War Warrior ~ I would urge you to watch out for similar Lightning taxi run days this summer.

    I’m going back that’s for sure !
