hmm – we got the right to still use imperial and as a result Brown gave the eu the UK.

American Airlines do it at DFW with MD80’s and used to do it with 727’s (have been on both whilst doing so) The only thing to watch for is no applying the brakes too quick or you may end up on the tail.
J41’s do it at SOU most of the time.
Manston,
all bar 2 are Harvards – the lowest 2 away from the formation are Vultee BT13’s.
Flying kiwi – I was with a trip organised by a well known UK aviation tour company.
Manston Airport – hideous or what!
No prizes for guessing what aircraft I flew in though 🙂
Nice shots – there are some 2007 shots of mine in the photo section (plug plug) 😉
Richb,
if you leave the lens in mode 1 when panning you are constantly fighting against the IS doing its job – so it is easier to use mode 2 when panning (or at airshows in general)
I was there – the WOW factor was not as high as the first time but it is still an impressive event. Thought the warbirds were good but the warbirds in the Saturday flying display were a bit disappointing compared to last year (only 1 B17 flying) Highlight for me was a B17 flight but the Raptor display was excellent as well.
Hope to go back next year.
Saw that aircraft at Oshkosh this year – hats off to them for what must be an incredible adventure
I have the 20D and have the ‘in camera’ sharpening set to soft because I would rather be able to add the necessary amount of sharpening myself (using unsharp mask) rather than have it added by the camera. If the camera adds too much that I cannot undo it whereas by having the camera nothing I can choose how much to add.
DSLR’s output is usually on the soft side (imo)
I do recall a Popham cap somewhere and I did mean to ask about it, as it is my local airfield and am a regular visitor there with a sales stand for a local aviation society. (hope to be there this Sunday wx permitting)
Glad you like them stormbird – they turned out better than I thought they would considering the vibration
Gromit,
yes I was – Lamers 876 was the bus number with Beth as the driver. (small world)!
JDK,
agree with your comment – it is only a hatch above radio operator location as there would not have been a mid upper turret there. Cannot confirm if the top turret at the front is a real one. (would it be mid upper as it is not in the centre of the fuselage like the BBMF Lancaster).
Bob,
one of the others did exactly that – gave us a good laugh 🙂
Harry Potter & Order of the Phoenix – film was good but what made it special for me was I saw it in a ‘drive in’ cinema in the USA – a first for me as these are getting quite rare.
