The evacuation test shown on the 777 program 21st Century Jet was also done inside.
Participant safety is a valid reason as you do not want to put people at an unnecessary risk – they are all volunteers as well. A certain % would probably have done 1 or more slides previously so would know what to expect.
Did Boeing ever do a full evacuation on the 400 model using the upper deck slides as these would be of a similar height to the A380 top deck ones.
GSM = Globespan I presume. It was doing a Eirjet charter from Ireland as the 17th March = St Patricks Day + it was Gold Cup day at Cheltenham so there were a few bix / copters around as well. There was also a Freebird A320 doing the same.
Dave,
as museums go – it is one of the better ones in terms of lighting that I have visited.
but there was some tweaking done on the PC as there is still the odd dark corner (Pics were hand held though) 3 main hangars there but the one with the TSR2 is probably the brightest
cheers guys,
the glass was not too bad – perhaps they had had a wash ? (or more likely been rained on) The highlight was the Air India Express 738 on delivey
The new building is looking quite impressive – not sure if anything is inside yet as it was not possible to go or see inside. It is possible that aircraft could be inside as the Canberra / Twin Pin / Hunter + others were not noted elsewhere.
Hs146 maybe?
Very nice shots – were they taken from Tung Chung ?
Cliff,
the ‘mound’ is just past the hangars at SOU on the left side (opposite fuel farm) on the way to the long term car park. No parking anywhere near but it is only a 10 min walk from the airport station car park.
hope this helps
Have used both and still think that JPEG is the one I will use most. RAW is good for low light situations where you might need the full benefit but in decent lighting the difference is far less. Have no quality issues either – have enlarged and printed (to A3 size) the same image from RAW & JPEG and really struggle to tell them apart.
Agree that Rawshooter Essentials is great but then having to work on them again in PS (or some other package) does seem like doubling up in terms of effort & time for little gain.
The large file sizes are also a problem if away from PC for a few days. On a 2GB card I can get 500+ JPEG yet drops to 220 RAW on the same card.
There is also a ex Zimbabwe Air Force Provost in the China Aviation Museum in Beijing.
(i have a pic of it at home)
Also if full service airlines switched, there is no guarentee that passengers would also switch – especially for those south of London. LHR / LGW will always be the first choice.
Ask people where Heathrow is and the majority would answer London – ask the same question about Stansted and you would be unlikley to London as an answer.
Regional airports should be encouraged but you do pay a premium for the convenience
and unless you are willing to connect, long or even medium haul is unlikely.
As for disused airfields – I always though that RAF Greenham Common would have been ideal as an overflow. (until the runway was removed)
How about ‘The (Fairey) Battle of Britain (or Midway)
or
Thunderbird(s)
Grey,
that could explain why it was at SOU over the weekend
