The comment made by Herr Schroeder that “germany has a habit of sticking to agreements etc” is a bit rich – the additional phrase “only when it suits them” should be added – particularly with regard to the stability pact
very subjective question to give a definitve answer to as take off performance depends on a variety of factors.
Am sure both companies have done testing to determine their own figures but short of having 1 of each take off from the same location, same time at the same weight, using same power settings etc (i.e to eliminate some variables or at least make them the same for both) then the only figures available are from the respective manufacturers and these will always be open to interpretation.
Robert,
I did not take it thick (whatever that means) my reply to Sandy’s was tongue in cheek (as indicated by the smiley) – if he failed to see the humour intended then that is not my fault. I offered to delete my comment if he did the same yet he did not so my comment remained.
As NRT now has a second (shorter) runway in operation there is no place that offers views of all movements (unfortunately) However if you are feeling more adventurous than it is well worth making the trip to Haneda where you will still see a lot of widebodys on domestic services. The coach costs 3000 yen each way and takes about 75 minutes depending on traffic etc. The older terminal at Haneda has an observation deck on its roof giving very good views of 1 runway with the other main runway being behind a new terminal. Not sure when this will be opened but was looking complete last year and as I recall will be used by ANA with the current terminal remaining for JAL.
Iberia’s 757 will be phased out in the next year or so which is why they are looking a bit faded paint wise. The 747-400 are used mainly on routes to the Canary Islands rather than long haul as they use A340’s 300 & 600’s on these as central / south american routes do not need the capacity.
not got a picture on a pc but have appeared in an issue of Flypast a few years ago (mid 2001) – had to have arm seriously twisted to be photographed as well (hate being photographed)
20D + EFS17-85 + 100-400IS – great kit and a big improvement on my old Minolta digital but my traditional film camera still takes great shots and (imho) requires more photographic skill to get the best from it.
no problem at all – but photographers on that and other sites can/do get very possessive if their pictures are used elsewhere without being asked. btw Airliners.net do not own the pictures, the copyright remains with the photographer and it is they who should be credited.
well said Kev.
Sandy – why should I delete my comment after all it the same as yours all be it with boeing instead of airbus – are you going to delete yours ?
hehe – was being sneaky – the left one is one of mine from Anet (id151707)
Oneleft,
where did you get those pictures from?? (Airliners.net maybe?)
just responding to your similar comment – so it’s ok to criticise politicians when airbus are ordered yet not when boeing are ordered – double standards methinks.
Air India ordering Boeing – that’s politicians for ya 🙂
A300/A310/A330/A340 were designed by Airbus with the 2-4-2 as the optimum – the fact that few (if any) have chosen otherwise proves it was a good decision.
