Melyvn,
was good to see it fly for the first time – I will try and post some of the pics this week
09R is rarely used for landings ?? – so you probably landed on 09L.
Good pics and report though – especially the flight deck shot.
yes – I got this one of Keith’s Pietenpol + found one of the ‘rucksack with wings’ 🙂
Melyvn,
know both of them from non Popham events – Phil is a regular at Romsey aviation group meetings and Keith’s aircraft is kept at Lee-on-Solent – behind our old hangar with his SE5 replica & microlight (Dragon I think)
do you mean this one ??? 😉
I think ‘WC’ was a weather diversion as was VP-BSD – Jersey was a bit foggy.
VP-BAT 747SP is often there so it can take the heavy stuff. Has also had AN124’s carrying Nimrod fuselages. 8000ft runway now so can take most things.

The taxes charged do vary a lot – on a forthcoming trip from Luton to Madrid on Easyjet the tax is £10.50 yet on a trip planned for a month later LHR-FRA on LH the taxes are £45

Melvyn,
promoted to ‘god’ from ‘payload’ (see line 1)- must have done something to deserve that (not taking any incriminating pictures maybe :)) but was a real treat to taxi in the Rearwin.
Just a few pictures from yesterday though – the first is Melvyn in the rear of BTUM (ooerrr missus) 2nd is Propstrike on departure
even the most ardent photographer would stop to watch Concorde depart or land – how many do that for any other civil aircraft. The A380 will do that for a while until people are used to it as I am sure people did with the 747.

The Spitfire MkXIV that was used as a spares source ended up at Strathallan (from RAF Halton) and was eventually bought by Spencer Flack, restored and flew as G-FIRE (or G-SPIT)
