only 5 in the UK of which 1 flies – not one of the most glamorous aircraft of ww2 but it did its job very well – had a post war career with airlines and government operations. A pilot flying one won the VC – is that enough? 😉

glad you liked those (thought they might get noticed)

Top pic was taken in 1996 Campo D’alfonso in Rio – home of Brazillian AF museum. I have a slide of a Chilean AF B18 taken at the same place (can scan and post if interested)
Middle is in Instanbul – Turkish AF Museum 1998 (loads of pics from here)
Bottom is in Montevideo 1996 (same trip as top) yes it is a B25 behind and I will post a pic soon. Sadly much of the museum collection was lost in a fire shortly after) Also visited Buenos Aries and the museum at Jorge Newbury Aeropark airport – I could post some from here if interested (has a nice Avro Lincoln)

    Colin,

we were set up in the tower but little business was done as most people stayed in the hangar / club rooms and did not venture too far (considering the wx I do not blame them) Hope to be there for the event on the 13th Feb depending on wx.

We were starting to pack up around 1.30 as it was obvious that nothing was going to turn up. The Gemini did a nice circuit or 2 which certainly got a lot of attention. The pietenpol also flew for a bit but I would think the pilot would have been like an ice cube on landing.

Kent Brockman in a recent episode – something along the lines of “heavy snowfall in Springfield, roads and schools are closed and albino’s are almost invisible.”

    Colin,

A Pietenpol & RV4 also flew on Saturday – shame the wx was so poor though as it is a great location.

    Dave,

I have seen a Citroen turbo diesel ‘run away’ like that – as you described it was burning the turbo & engine lubricating oil – smoke went from white, to brown to blue to black then BANG! Fortunately the driver was running away from it at the time waving the ignition key. When it first started my thoughts were “who is using a disk cutter in the car park”

Saw the vintage pair accident at Mildenhall in 1986 – never a nice thing to witness.

On a slightly less morbid note I went on an organised trip to the French AF show at Chateaudun and French Navy show at Landivseau. It all started to go wrong when the ferry was 6 hours late leaving Portsmouth this made us very late to Caen and we got to the show at around 4pm but had to leave at 5pm to get to hotel which was a 5 hour drive away. Following day went to Landviseau and spent 7 hours huddled in a cold, wet hangar as the weather was awful, not even the birds were flying let along any aircraft. There were a few aircraft in the static display but main flight line was a fair distance away and not worth getting a soaking for.
