a family member of mine went through a bad couple of years when much younger as a result of a thyroid problem which was only diagnosed after much pressure from the family. A simple blood test found the problem with the thryoid and since taking medication is recovered. Blood tests are still taken to keep an eye on the particular mineral and the dosage adjusted if neede. This person was prone to violent mood swings in a matter of minutes and when on the low side was suicidal. Spent 6 months in an ‘institution’ during the early stage of recovery and is now married with 2 kids.
A simple blood test solved the problem – but took a lot of hard work and pressure to get one done.
Grey Area,
MAN weather was bad Saturday and Sunday – I spent most of it inside the terminals although did venture up on to the car park for 90 mins as there were some exec movements for the Man Utd / Man City derby match. Will upload the few I took sometime.

Have been on 2 MD11’s – N1750B of American Airlines (now with Fed Ex) – Tokyo – San Jose – only 50 or so pax so comfort not a problem & PP-SFA of VASP (now with UPS) – MD11 had a reputation of being tricky to land and certainly the AA flight ended with one of the worst landings (in terms of teeth crunching impact & bounces) I have ever had – am convinced pilot was ex carrier so had to slam it every time 😉

Whiskey Delta,
no – the group ‘chairman’ spent many months getting the flights organised and as in a lot of cases it was getting hold of the right person on the inside.
Most RAF stations have a ‘public liasion officer’ and it was through her that the flights were arranged (I believe) The trip was at short notice though – I got the call on Tuesday pm for the trip on Thursday – luckily my boss is very understanding and is well aware of my interest in aviation / photography.
hope this helps

Ian,
glad you liked the pictures – it was a stunning day. 🙂
Are you coming to the meeting Thursday ? – it should be a good one.
Whiskey Delta – it was arranged by an avation group I belong to and my name was on the list to go – just lucky I was a) at my desk when the call came and b) a boss who understands these things.
not for nothing was the trident nicknamed the ‘ground gripper’ 😉
