Apart from the Dc-10’s, tristars and MD-11’s, are there any Boeing 747sp’s around? I flew on one on Air Mauritius, but they are now retired, do Syrian air still operate two of them?
Lol! Lynx choppers doing loop the loops over your village? That must of looked really funny and good at the same time! I used to live right next to Regents park, and because the American embassador’s house was in regent’s park itself, we used to have CH47 Chinooks comming in right over the house, and the downdraft would shake the house lol! I used to stand on the roof with my brother and wave at the pilots, and they would all wave back.
Ah! The Aurora is only theoretical, but i have no doubt that the Americans are flying around some aircraft in and out of Area51, even though theres little evidence to prove it. This Aurora aircraft has to be real! The Americans kept the SR71 and the F117A projects very secret for a while. In the next decade perhaps, the American scould reveal this airplane to the world?
Not sure actually! If they are working i suppose they would be appearing at airshows this year perhaps? As far as i know, we bought the apaches and fitted them with british parts.
None the less, the Blackbird remains the fastest man powered jet today! The Russians fired hundres of missiles at it during the cold war, and not one missle was close! Ive even heard about a Blckbird doing a flypast for a british airshow and it was going so fast it overshot Britain and had to take most of europe to slow down and come back!
Super shots! great focus on the pics! If i’m right Canada has the world’s largest water airport? Dunno where tho? Hope u had a fab holiday!
Ah yes i thought so, yeah i don’t suppose the space shuttle counts? considering that it actualli goes towards speeds of mach 21 when entering the earth’s atmosphere!! ah!!!! Heres a terrific website for the balckbird sum superb info and pics! – http://www.wvi.com/~sr71webmaster/j-58~1.htm

The one thing that the british do make is Jet engines! Rolls Royce (the car company) was sold to BMW, but Rolls Royce aero engines reamian british! And that is something to be proud of! Although, i do agree that Britain building almost nothing in the civil aviation market is pretty poor! My brother’s mate finished his degree in aero engineering and started working for BAE full time! Now he has the threat of loosing his job alltogether!
Aha! I’m sure that the Air Atlanta 747 TF-AMK is the exact same plane that i see very frequently at Gatwick airport?
Love the photos! Especially the Dash 8Q400 Flybe! And also the Boeing 727! I have seen the exact version of that 727 in the carribean named Ameri Jet. Good pics.

Yeah that may well put passengers off! But check out this website http://science.howstuffworks.com/question37.htm I am no wizz at science (even though im studying it! 😮 ) but it does suggest that it reuces drag in some form. Anyway, just something to think about perhaps?
Concorde apparently was named britain’s most genious and best invention ever in a national poll! Even though it was a joint venture with the French! Still, i wouldn’t disagree with that! Concorde is undoubtubly one of the best pieces of british aeronautical engineering. If only Virgin did operate them today! “sigh”
What is it with BAA and the closing down of viewing areas for the public? First it was the heathrow viewing gallery (which was an excellent viewing place) then it was Gatwick viewing area. And now a possible closure of the remaining viewing area for Heathrow. That just sums it up really. And its surprising that Manchester airport actually welcome people to their viewing area to be the “eyes and ears” of the airport, where as with BAA, viewing areas seem to be non existant and of no importance what so ever.
