My thanks to you all for your valued comments to date. They are appreciated.
I am following a line of enquiry that could well connect me with the current owner. I will keep you updated – if this is of interest?

Thanks too to Wokka Bob. That is really interesting. WW388 actually came from someone’s front drive in Sonning Common in Berkshire!
I paid £400,00 for it and came back to our farm in Radnage near to Chinnor on a large trailer.
The previous owner (Mr Stowe from memory) had an airworthy example at White Waltham and had used it as a spares ship.
We moved to Upper Tumble near Llanelli as the Pit Strike started and reassembled the plane.
The Welsh Museum and I discussed and then agreed a swap, because their Proctor could not be displayed at Cardiff which was open to the elements.
I had assumed that it would be preserved – but there we go! Should it be possible to get it back, then I would restore the Provost and then loan it to a museum.

    Thank you Tim.

898 was broken up but it served to keep XF690 flying and making 388 more complete.
898 was in a very poor condition when I got it (£60.00 from memory) and took all my saved pocket money! It was stored behind an old garage shed at Bledlow Ridge. The fuselage had been cut into two pieces. Both wings had been cut outboard of the U/C points and the outer sections had long gone. The tailplane, cowling’s and a partially stripped engine block were all that remained. I think it was ex Southall college from memory? The cockpit was surprisingly complete though.

Thanks for your help. I just wonder who has it now?

    Hi Ritch and Max
I used to own XF898 and WW388 (7616M) at Chinnor back in the 1980’s prior to swapping it for a Proctor in Wales. XF898 was in a poor state and I managed to rescue all usable parts to make WW388 into a more complete airframe. Indeed the spar fittings went to XF690 owned at that time by the Late David Micklebough to get his Provost flying again. There were extensive spares that went with WW388 to the Welsh Museum at Cardiff, and I am sure that these will have accompanied the airframe when the museum closed. This included all the spare canopy, cowlings, windscreens, throttle controls etc. I hope that this provides some direction to completing your project. Best regards, George.
