Just like Russian Cruise liners used to have very large stern doors – just about big enough to disembark T72 tanks:p
Possibly a good PR press release, but pie in the sky.
Detection of missiles? And what about the proximity of aircraft movements at Heathrow for instance. Will the detection system be able to differentiate? I dont think so. “El Al already has a system installed”. Really?
I’m afraid that this risk is very real – it was real back in the 1970’s at Belfast, but there is no practical defence in the real world.
Well, as has been said before, it really does come down to your experiences with the airline, and what you are happy with.
Our last two trips to MNL have been with LH, and although others may throw their hands in the air with horror, we were really quite happy with the trips. Although now close to a decision on who to fly with on next trip and will probably try something different especially with prices so competitive.;)
Seems like a very premature booking to me. I mean, are the flights going to be difficult to find at that time?
A (rich) guy a used to work for always travelled in the “superior” classes, but usually dressed in T shirt and jeans. He is the only person I’ve ever met who was regularly downgraded – “The economy class queue is over there ,sir.” He used to get very cross!:p
Yes, same experience when we did PMI -AMS and back. Excellent.:)
Been searching for any larger aircraft using SOU, (other than 737/757), and the only one I found was this:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/352746/M/
Well yes, for example you missed Manila – just as Aberdeen is via Newcastle, so Manila is via Paris.
Just looking again at that – some of those are BE flights using 142,
the other larger aircraft would be 737 of Air Malta and Air Europa, and 757 of BY etc, plus whatever else is called in to cover.
You have got me interested as to what larger aircraft have used Southampton! And as a matter of interest, my first flight from there was as an ATC Cadet in an Avro Anson:eek:
Some destinations flown from SOU using other than RJ’s ;
Alicante,Mallorca,Malaga,Malta,Minorca,&Tenerife:)
Philippines! The fear of terrorism (greatly overstated, except in certain areas – which you stay well away from), has decimated tourism. But the people are great, and there are tremendous bargains to be had. If you want to make some flights, how about PAL from Manila to Puerto Princesa (A320) for around £80 return, and then a flight up to El Nido by SEAIR LET410 (45 mins) for £21, or even a 30day pass on SEAIR to travel the length and breadth of the country for $299?
And in Palawan, you could stay here for around £7 a night:cool:
Very Good – as they say! Seeing the H & W cranes in the background is very nostalgic – had a friend who flew underneath one Sunday morning.(Rotary wing) – unfortunately there was someone doing a bit of overtime who complained:o
Like if you buy a multi-million dollar motor yacht – if you want fuel in it, its extra!
Thousands of reasons to fly from the Gulf to Cebu – the Overseas Filipino Workers who live in the south, who will be able to go direct instead of via Manila.
Now, what were we discussing about SIA……….?:p
