    Elliott,

Thank you for the marvelous updates they really are an inspiration. That spar centre section detail really gives a scale to the task ahead, well done and I look forward to your further updates.

Ahhh – too slow again, as an aside would anyone know of a supply for this type of plate, I need a small amount for the step to the front of the TTO fold up seat on the Martinet.

    Richard,

Whilst no expert and difficult to say without a scale your first item looks like the tread from a flip up foot hole for pilot access. The attached photo details the unit from a Martinet. Can you confirm the size?

    Hello Gateguard,

I believe that is the location for the target towing control panel. Drop me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send over some details.

The ‘Another American Type’ Look P-47 to me Alan.

Vultee pedals are from a Valiant and don’t quote me but I think those British Type NO.1 may be Piston Provost.

    TT

    TT,

Could the Vultee pedals also be from a Vengeance? I am no expert but they look very similar or perhaps a universal part?

    Kind regards,

Sorry, I meant to ask you, is the data on the Martinets posted based on the RAF Movement cards? I’m just thinking of other ways of finding out more about the Unit.

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Morning Andrew,

Yes I have a full set of Martinet movement cards which have been cross referenced with the accident cards (Cat Ac – Cat E) currently in the process of reviewing the unit ORB’s and available log book entries for additional information. It is quite a large task so is taking some time.

    Kind regards,

    Hello Alan,

That seat adjuster handle looks very Martinet / Master, I will check when I get in and e-mail you the AP. If it is I would be very interested if it becomes available!

Wasn’t that also known in the RAF as a monkey chain (or monkey harness)?

    WP

Thanks for that information it is beginning to make sense.

    Hi Tim,

Just out of interest my copy of AP1086 Section 6F dated 20th March 1958 gives the following for 6F/166: Anchorages, Observers complete; consists of 6F/160 forks, swivel and 6F/96 quick release

Unfortunately 6F/182 isn’t listed in this revision date issue.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Dave

    Hello Dave,

Thank you for the additional information, does AP1086 include an illustration of these parts?

    Kind regards,

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply.

Wow, so much information. Martin turret, Fairey Battle, P47, etc. All expressions of interest have been duly noted and I’ll reply in due course. Please be patient.

Looking at B 17man’s photo, I think I may have another piece of Martin turret. I’ll post a photo tomorrow if I get the chance.

    Hi Tim,

Not part of the garage clearout but I’ve a feeling I may have one (or parts of). I’ll be in touch.

    Hi Alan,

Thanks that would be appreciated the AP has this observer type harness noted for the TTO position along with 6F/182. Will look forward to hearing from you when you have waded through all the correspondence (mine included!)

    Kind regards,

    Hello Alan,

The bottom ‘throttle quadrant’ is a Miles Martinet control box and I am absolutely delighted to see it – e-mail on it’s way. By the way does any of your harnesses carry a 6F/166 reference?

    Kind regards,

    Tim
