Smashing effort,
I work there 😀 will be looking after the Hawks for airday at top end of hardstanding.
Maybe the RN should create their own Aerobatic display team to rival The red arrows :diablo::D
Regards
James
God, don’t suggest that, it’s been very busy to get these 7 aircraft ready for the display’s, so far they have taken part in the 100 years fly past over London [4 a/c], Waddington airshow [6a/c], Yoevilton airshow [7a/c] & just sent 6 to RIAT for this weekend, all extra work on top of our normal JSATO taskings, [this week it’s been 4 days of 14 to 19 sorties]
just found this Fly Navy 100Years Hawks decal set/kit
6 of them heading to Fairford for RIAT, 1 will be on static display, 1 as a flyable spare & 4 doing the display flight, all will return home on Monday.
And very good care indeed.
Martin
Cheers, XX157 is 33 years old, looks good for a 1976 airframe doesn’t it.
Fly Navy Hawk, didnt realise there were so many hawks painted up with the special colours.
we have 7 of them in the fly navy 100 livery, that’s the first display all 7 have attended at the same time. they all belong to FRADU.
great photo’s, that Skyraider is a big bit of kit.
Good to see all our hard work prepping these for the weekend got used, they look pretty good.
for all the number collectors these 4 are XX157,XX159,XX261 & XX281, XX205 was on static [see other Waddington photo thread & XX221 was the flyable spar [this a/c doesn’t wear the special Fly Navy 100 livery, we only have 7 in this celebration of Navy flying 100 years livery, all navy hawks are based at Culdrose, as I work & take great care of them.
Nice photo of XX205 one of my FRADU Hawks, we have 7 in that livery, all 7 should be at Yeovilton airday on Sat 11th July & Culdrose on the 29th.
Doubt, either in store for disposal & some being used as Flight deck operations training where I work, theose ones don’t look in a very good state certainly not for flying duties.
i thought it was totally closed to aircraft ops, didn’t know that show was on.
& the airbrake is split & relocated to the sides of the rear fuselage to make space for the aresstor hook, u/c legs are different, nose u/c is twin wheel with a catapult facility & engine is more powerful.
IF (note that is a BIG if) the RN get its big carriers….and by some miracle of common sense got to cats and arrestor gear, woulf the RN purchase a few T-45s?
doubt it, the new military flying training is going to be done mostly with simulators & at the moment 28 hawk 128’s [Hawk T2 in RAF terms]
Latest news [rumour] is that all Navy Hawks will receive this tail paint – watch this space.
.
the full news is only 7 have got this tail fin paint job, 🙂
I look after these FRADU Hawks & all 7 are now back in service after the piant shop visit, all the navy hawks are operated by us on FRADU & they are on long term loan from the RAF.
