F-86s pilots on night watch:)
Galeb G-2s
Early Mig-21s
Frankly, whatever happens I think it would be a mistake to do more than buying a few more second hand FULCRUMs and upgrading the whole ‘fleet’ (of 10-12 aircraft*) to SMT standard. The rest of the money can then be spent on as much domestically produced kit as possible, i.e. the SMTs would be able to drop domestically produced LGBs and fire Grom-2 missiles in the ground attack role, G-4s could have an M added and also use domestic a2g weapons, M-84s could be upgraded to AB1 standard etc. Helicopters are probably the other foreign purchase that will be necessary – damn. These are probably top of the list of big purchases so expect to see Pumas (or similar) with Serbian markings some time in the future. Personally I would prefer Ka-60s but thats just because they look so much better 😎 .
* ideally 10 single seaters and two UBs (which don’t have to be upgraded anyway).
That would be an ideal soultion. We have the potential that is true, we have the skills. We also have people that care only about themselves(read – polititians). If everything goes well, and the budget gets well planned,i see an option ,similar to the one you stated above ink, realistically happening.
Lets hope this becomes the usuall view at the airbases around Serbia:

Shame!
I met the late pilot at the Batajnica Air Show personally and i have his signature on a Mig-29 photo 🙁
Nice pictures Djnik. I’d post my pictures of Ponikve, but I can’t find my camera cable.
Looking forward to seeing them. Later tonight,if i have time,i will post more historical photos in the “Good old times thread”!
Very nice video Slobo. Those Srbo-chetniks are a really mean bunch.
I guess Orao’s were armed with 57mm unquided missiles.
And some Oraos in action.
Last photo is of Duranals dropped from Orao.
Very cool 😎
Do you have any G-4 in action pics?
How about a nice Mig-21 in action photo?
Here are some of my favourite photographs of Me-262,both as a fighter(day and night) and as a bomber.
My personal favourite would definutely be the one with Bk-5 cannon intercepting B-17s over Germany while the Me-109s and Fw-190s are taking care of the escorts.
Hello people, I just wanted to hear some feedback from fellow aviation fans regarding an upcoming project I am planning. I would like to depict a Me 262 and am wondering what others think as to the best unit or pilot’s aircraft to choose. Also, I am not certain as to whether to show the 262 in flight/combat or perhaps on the ground. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Regards
I will have a photo for you in 2 hours. Hope to be the first one to see it when its done;)
Don’t forget that the military still has 5 billion dollars worth of facilities and old equipment that needs to be sold off.
Unfortenutely, the current sale of these military facilities has not proved effective. What i mean is that the military has sold some of its ex bases and properties and has got little or no money for them. Corruption is what dissapoints me the most in our country. People without a face.
Good article…but it doesn’t really say anything about Ponikve. I’ll post some pictures of the base later tonight. But the Runway is still damaged near the end by the control tower. And the road to get to Ponikve is a pain in the a$$. If anybody’s been down that way before…to get to the base, you have to pull off of the main road right by the monument to the Uzice Republic. Like I said, pain in the a$$.
I have already posted some photos of Ponikve in the previous thread so check them out,if they are the same or not.
Well the whole idea was to make the airbase isolated and at high altitude as to reduce the interception time for example. It was intended as wartime airfield and not civilian one and therefore the local roads leading to it are not in the best condition.
Nope, no source to offer, i’m sorry. As far as the time frame, it was just prior to the nato attack so i’m figuring it must’ve been 1998, maybe early 1999.
It kinda makes sence,as about that time Sa-6s were upgraded.
I remember back then that tor and buk systems were offered to serbia, and some 1-2 units were sent for evaluation but in the end they were not bought by serbia as they were too pricey. Rather, money went into modernization of kub systems they already had.
Do yoiu have the source for this claim about Top and Buk?And also what years are we talking about?
