    I personally think he’s a troll.

Comments such as the “Mi-8 is better than a Mi-17 and besides they look the same” seem only designed to incite responses.

Maybe its our “friendly” neigbour Gon4z that came back from self imposed exile:)

Hey Mate if you wont your letters in serbian you can always do it in control panel and add a language You just have to go to Control Panel then click reginoal and language options and then click on laguages and then you press add and then you chosse what language you wont. Also a MIG 29 single seater is better then 2 seater beaucuse the Standard UB donesnt have a Radar and the single seater does.

He posted a photo of Mig-29 M2,not UB.

Hmm…how about this…WHY would you need 4 interceptors in the next 3-4 years?? Expecting a war?? And if you are…4 interceptors are going to save you??

4 interceptors do not need to be used only to wage war. Does every military procurment that Serbian Army makes means it wants to attack someone? Interceptor type airplane is used for Air Defence role, not for launching attacks against ground targets (there are Galebs and Oraos for that purpose). A number of these airplanes (of any origin) needs to exist within the Serbian Air force in order to perform the patrol duties and intercept the airplanes that wander into Serbian Air Space. And that can happen often.

Why do Switzerland and Austria maintain interceptio type airplanes if they are surrounded by “friendly” nations?

I’d say the alternative is scarp the junk…open up to NATO…and look at acquiring planes in the future from them. But…I suppose I don’t have “their best interests at heart”…becasue I tell them that Su-30s and PAK-FAs are ficticious, and thinking of wars with neighbours again is suicide.

No one is thinking of wars with neigbours. If you take what some people on this forum say as serious threats of war then i guess we better make more claims in order to scare the Romulans aways as well…

As i said,i belive again that EU and NATO are not the way. Too expensive for us.

Yes…evil western governments and their negative media coverage. Thats the problem.

Well they actually do,as does goverment on any side. Its all about the interests.

djnik:First of all djnik, why do you keep asking about my private life, me living in Serbia, wow what a great topic to put on a air force forum. Secondly of all its harder to type Serbian than to write it because the letters are in English not Serbian. And thirdly big deal if people don’t talk to me on this topic, I talk to people on other topics, not just this one. And Im not the one who is embarresed, you are the one who is constantly ebarrsed and making comments about me. You go ahead and question on the things I do, and me and the other members will talk about air forces. Maybe this is not the right forum for you.

I am not asking about your private life,i am just stating that a guy who claims to come from Serbia should at least be able to write Serbian properly. You are so funny,of course you can write in Serbian even if the letters on your keyboard are in english?Ever heard of latinica? Or you are just using cyrillic.Hmmm, kids these days.

Not a forum for me :p . As soon as you posted your first comment on the Mig-23s and other museum relics, you showed that it is definutely not a forum for you.

Good luck with talking to people on other topics…

P.S: Don’t spoil my thread that was doing very well with questions that make no sence

djnik:Ах јој, шта чеш да радиш сада , осим да плађеш, ах јој. Ја моги да казем шта ја хошу и да одлучујем шта ја хошу.

everybody else: Djnik why do you over exagurate over anything I say. Other people don’t complain, except for you, this is a forum and I can say what ever I want.

First of all if you were Serbian and living in Serbia as you say,you would be able to write and spell Serbian correctly. Your grammar is totally off. Maybe you are living abroad and that would probably explain for why you know nothing of the situation in Serbia and what can be bought and what not at the time.

Of course you can write whatever you want, but if you continue mentioning things about Mig-23,Mig-25 and Mi-6 no one will take what you write seriously,as it makes no sence. You just show that you have no knowledge of aviation issues what so ever.

Other people dont complain, cause they tend to ignore what you say. Some commented your claims as you can read above. I simply am giving you an advice to think before you speak,so you dont embarass yourself.Thats all!

P.S: And whats up with these randomly posted pictures? It doesnt make sence at all!

There is no game with as good airplane controls as a real flight simulation.Quite the opposite of Battlefield.

I dont think that AK-47 are unbreakable at all!! Quite in contrary actually. I remember when i was in Kosovo during the war the KLA was using AKs and there were stories about how after less than an hours fighting, they would start melting from overheating. Not to mention accuracy

That is what happens to any kind of a gun due to extensive firing.Ak-47 is no different than the rest.

Considering they already have them and can operate them, yes. Purchasing more would make sense but it is not necessary at the moment. The Two seater upgrade makes it a viable little fighter with an extra set of eyes and work the weapons. Part of the upgrade is a complete overhaul to zero hours… most of the wiring is removed and replaced as part of the upgrade. Even just for the reduction in costs of operating the aircraft it is worth it.

I was of the opinion that the two seater does not have a radar. Were you refering to it as a viable fighter because it could carry R-73s or?It would be hard for it to survice without any longer range radar guided missiles.I am speaking of the two seater version that Serbia has,not the Mig-29M2.

A very basic overhaul from Belarus or Ukraine would make no sense as you are paying money and not improving them and not making them cheaper to use nor more effective to use. The fact that they are seeking support from Russia is a very positive step. It might even result in Serbia getting some upgrade work from Mig if there are other east european nations that want their migs upgraded but mig is busy with new builds for India and Algeria etc etc.

That is unfortenutely what MOD only had in mind, according to the amount of money allocated to the overhaul.I guess they will start with that and what follows,we will see.

Another problem is that there is Romania to the east, with its own Mig-21 and Mig-29 upgrade program and therefore competition.

    I still think Serbia should buy MIG 25’s, MIG 23’s, mi-24’s, MI-6’s and Mi-8’s.

In order to make a conclusion like that you must know very little or nothing about Air Force. We told you about the arguments against Mig-25,Mig-23 and Mi-6 and you still go on with your story. You cannot judge the airplanes and think they are good just by their looks you know…

Also i still stand with the Su fighters, they can kick Albanias A$$.

Do not insult anyone or you will get banned. This is not a Serbian-Albanian “who kicks ass” discussion. Sukhoi fighters are an overkill for that anyways,as they are not needed cause none of the neigbouring countries pose a threat at that level.

Plus Serbia should upgrade their transport fleet , wow one AN-26 how ecinomicall. They should have a fleet of An -27’s, they look cool with those big engines on the side. And if they are to expensive then buy them of egypt or somethin. I like the sound of that. 🙂

Seriously, how old are you? Countries do not buy airplanes these days cause they are cool or not??? Would Egypt sell its airplanes even.Be carefull what you base your statements on.

My advice, listen and learn from the more exeperienced ones on this forum,do nott embarass us.

And the costs of its military commitments to NATO will make upgrading their existing mig-29s and buying a few more to make a viable fleet of say 18-24 airframes look like peanuts.

My personal opinion has always been that we should not joing NATO or EU. The ideal situation would be to have a status of Switzerland, withing Europe but not a member of these institutions..By enterning NATO and EU,we would have to increase drastically our military expenditure, the taxes would go up etc.It is not what we need,as our economy is fragile enough and will be in the forseable future. I vote for Partnership for Peace but nothing more than that.

You currently have the trained personel to operate and maintain Mig-29s. You also have support equipment and a weapons cache for these aircraft as well. Upgrading them all to an SMT standard would cost less than one new aircraft let alone the costs of infrastructure and retraining.

Unfortenutely Garry, our Mig-29s will,if everything goes well, just be overhauled and brought to flying condition. They will not be brought to SMT standard.I forsee the replacement of engines, communication equipment,RWR and radar as the current ones are not working.

They will most probably be armed with R-73s and it wishfull to obtain some of the new R-27s that could be used with the existing radar,as the older models of R-27s are not all that reliable and accurate.

    Lets wait and see.

But no Mig-23s or Mi-6s what so ever:)

And Kapedani,we can’t get the Klingon Warbirds as they use Romulan cloaking devices. Romulans wouls most certanly veto the Klingon decision to sell us the Warbirds,as we would become a serious threat to their systems in the Alpha Quadrant. 😀
