Serbian Mig-29 cockpit
Mig-21s at Moma Stanojlovic overhaul facility at Batajnica AB
Didn’t the Germans try a similar FAE approach during the Second World War as a method of defending against bomber attacks? I seem to recall it involved using coal dust as the fuel.
They did indeed try and and use bombs against the bombers.Namely Me-109s would try and get about 500 feet above the enemy bombers and drop the bombs that were set to detonate at specific altitude difference. These had limited results and when the Allies started sending fighter escorts, the idea was scrapped as they would have decimated the bomb loaded Me-109s and Fw-190s. I am not sure if it was some kind of FAE bomb.
I also thinking its Photoshoped. You can even see it in the original photo,if you look carefully.
I was under impression that work on KS-172 was cancelled?
Hristos vaskrse 🙂
I would think so,as the first generations of missiles weren’t very reliable.
BTW Does Serbia still have sanctions?
No sanctions what so ever.
Heh’. Case closed! 🙂
But you do make a good point.
Why does that MiG-29 have a US flag both on the fuselage/wings and on the “Fulcrum Farewell USA 2003” logo at the fin? Did the US take over some of the ex-German Fulcrums, and this is sorta like a symbolic gimic?
Thats because some German Mig-29s went on a last tour and exercise to USA before they were ALL transfered to Poland.
Check this stuff out. There’s all the SAMs I’ve located in Google Earth personally so far. Also included are placemark files for a lot of stuff in the Crimean, Belarus, and the Ukraine.
Thanks a lot SOC!:) I will check them out while i’m having breakfast tomorrow:)
I have untill now primarely searched for airfields.I have all airfields in ex-Yugoslavia,Albania,Macedonia,Bulgaria,Iraq,Isreal and Syria marked.Oh Cuba too:)
Exactly as barrythemod said,Saab Viggen with splinter camo.I tried to post the photos couple of hours ago but the forum was down for some reason.
Could have fooled me – again. Serbia has experienced amazing turmoil since the fall of the Berlin wall. The state it belonged to fell appart violently. Strict economic, cultural and diplomatic sanctions emposed in 1992 were never completely removed until 2000. In 1993-1994 Serbia experienced hyper-inflation worse than ever experienced by any country in history (including Weimar Germany). In 1996-97 Serbia experienced some of history’s longest strikes and demonstrations during a period of significant political unrest. In 1998-99 a part of Serbia’s territory was subject to a violent seperatist movement and Serbia was bombed by the most powerful nations on the planet for 78 days (NATO used nearly 40% of their front-line assets apparently). Then in 2000 Serbia experienced a revolution that may not have been violent but certainly was damaging to the economy. Taking these factors into consideration I would say that Serbia’s military is doing amazingly well. Countries in the region with a much more positive, easier recent history (lets take Croatia for e.g.) are struggling almost as much.
Ink,shame on you.You are making us sound like victims 😀
Vipers where the ONLY engines available on the market. there was a limitation for selling military use items to socialist countries (engine thrust must not pass 20kN)
As i said in one of the Aeromagazin issues, a designer of Orao spoke how they were not allowed to get more powerfull (i recall french) engines because of the political decision at a time. I will try and find the article somewhere.
I’m not here to paint a dark picture of Serbian Army…they do a good enough job of that themselves. I’m here to hopefully put an end to the very ridiculous and crazy discussions that ALWAYS go on when Serbs talk about their army. Su-30s and PAK-FAs?? What the hell are you thinking?? And it snot here and isolated…this seems to be going on everywhere. its very amuzing…I’m just a bit concerned.
If claims of Su-30s and PAK-FAs bother you so much, then simply don’t reply. You are the only one that has to reply to each and every thing that is said here. You are not obliged to do that. No one ever asked you to put an end to any stories that Serbs talk. Ink and I reply to the other Serbians and tell them if something doesnt make sence as you have seen in this thread. We get your view, Serbian Army sucks. Its getting kinda boring to read it over and over again. Dont ruin my thread by always having to involve your opinion that you think is superior to anyone elses.
More Mig-21s at Batajnica that are to be overhauled by Moma Stanojlovic company.
I know you didnt say it but you also told me to calm down Slobo and other ones with their illusions.
Yes the bases were refurbished to NATO standards by using NATO funds provided by Turkey. And Turkish airplanes will be based there only as a NATO mission, not solely as a Turkish air force outpost. Anyways in the case of conflict bewteen Greece and Turkey, they would be cut off as any Turkish airplane would need to fly over Greece in order to get to Albania.
