Frankly Kapedani, you’re just a little too determined to paint a pessemistic picture of everything Serbian and it brings into question every single thing you say. If you made any attempt to be a little bit more objective then your points might carry some more weight. Ever said anything nice about Serbia? Not just on this board but at any time in your life?

Exactly what i stated before as well.

Anyways another Mig-21 two seater photo from Batajnica.

well Turkey against Greece in a war could manage by themselves dats for sure, but they would also need vocal supporters and who else but Albania for that. Maybe even Kosova in the future (kobra dont get upset, its a possibility).

Also, if Turkey had an air force base in Albania, would make the greeks nervous. So maybe a deal on F-16s maintenance by turks for a period of time for an air force base in exchange sounds like a good deal to me. :diablo:

And you tell us Kapedani that we are having illusions. Turkish base in Albania will never happen. Only NATO base, but they have Bulgarian airfields for that.

    It also has a toilet….

These shots are from the model Tu-160 I am building…..

    Ken

What edition is that Playboy next to the toilet hehe:P Cool detail.

May i give you some suggestions concerning your model,as i build airplane models myself. If you are up to detailing your instrument panel, you can use a tooth pick and some white pain on the tip and use it to paint the scales. When you are done with this an the paint has dried you can use another toothpick with some gloss varnish on the tip and apply it on each instrument. This will give it a nice glass looking shine.

Later tonight I’ll just upload the actual .kmz file you can input into Google Earth with all the placemarks. I’ve found loads more S-300 sites and a bunch of other aircraft lately as well.

    Thanks!Looking forward to it 😉

    Tu-160 ‘bombardier’ station.

Thanks a lot for that photo! Is anyone familiar with the displays that can be seen?

How would you use a radar to guide a missile with a range of thousands of km? They use inertial navigation/ computer maps etc. TERCOM as its known in the West.

I knew that.I was refering to the short range cruise missiles. I know that for example in the T-22s that are in the Naval aviation,a Tu-95 with a Big Bulge radar is needed in order to determine the position of the enemy shipping.I was simply wondering if Tu-160 can acquire any targets with its radar that are not that far away.

Eventually the Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 willl all be equipped with common radars (replacing Obzor on the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 and the PN-A on the Tu-22M). The new weapons just require the moderniztion of the missile initialisation/ launch system (Sprut).

    😉

I do (the EW station), but it’s in my Tupolev Bombers book, and I don’t have a scanner.

Oh well.I will search further! But thanks anwyways!

Well, the final answer to the question of the number and type of the future serbian aircrafts will be given only when the question of Kosovo and Montenegro is resolved.
Serbia alone is 88 361 km2(if you count in Kosovo at around 10 000 km2), which is comparable to Croatia(if you count in the sea), so if we are getting along with 12-at first(?or F-16, total number would be around 24 I guess) Grippens, I suppose you could live with a similar number of aircrafts. Anything beyond that number will be a complete waste of money which could be better spent.
BTW, I also think that neither Croatia or Serbia should invest that kind of money just for the fun of having modern fighters, but regretebly I’m not to decide.
We could also talk about the possibility of a Montenegro’s AF…that is going to be interesting, if they choose independence…

I do not think that Montenegro needs an Air Force, just like Slovenia. They are simply too small. They should focus on helicopters only.

Does Tu-160 use its radar to guide any missiles at all or its just for terrain avoidance? Is this radar getting an upgrade? Also does anyone have photos of Tu-160s cockpit in detail, apart from the pilots and co-pilots stations?

Lots more fun stuff in Google Earth these days! If you look at Gostomel, you can see both the An-70 and the An-225. There’s at least three new S-300P sites visible in the Ukraine, along with a whole mess of CANDIDs and FULCRUMs, and a good high-resolution image of an S-200 site as well. You can even see the ski jump at Saki now! And a FORGER! And a bunch more Be-12s!

Would it be too much of a prolem if you provide the coordinates?:) At least of the S-200 site. Also did you manage to find any ICBM silos in Russia and USA?In USA i just found so far a couple at Vandenberg AB.

How is the J-22 going to be replaced by a helicopter?! Maybe some of the recon duties can be taken over by UAV’s… But a helicopter can never replace a striker. The striking duties of the J-22 would be replaced partly by a modernized G-4, and partly by the new multirole jet.

I am of the opinion that a good attack helicopter would perform much better then J-22 in ground attack/anti-tank role. That is what we really need,a flexible platform that will perfrorm well against fixed and mobile targets, and quite frankly,J-22 is not able to do that as it carries no guided weapons but AGM-65 which are not that numerous. The only advantages that J-22 might have is that its able to carry BL-755 cluster bombs and Duranal anti-runway bombs, which however G-4 can carry as well.

One last thing, J-22 is underpowered. The Rolls-Royce engines do not provide a good thrust to weight ratio. The British engines were obtained rather then the French ones, which was a purely political decision at a time. One can read about that in one Aeromagazin issue.

    300 U.S. Gallons = 250 Imperial Gallons = 1136 liters

    More precisely:

    1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters

In USA they calculate for the cars how many miles per gallon(mpg) they can travel while us in Europe do it in liters per 100 kilometers.

Does anyone know how the fuel consumption for US and European airplanes is calculated in?
