What is the armmament of this little thing?
If Severstal is being modernized (can we have a proper news article about that?) then it’s likely she’s being refitted for carrying the Bulava just like Dmitry Donskoi. If that’s the case, Arkhangelsk will be next in line.
It’s great news!It would be a shame that those subs got scrapped,as they obviously have an enormous potential and deterrant value!
The film is definitly the best Hollywood movie about Russian fleet / army. Still it has about some relation to USSR reality as “Top Gun” movie to real USAF.
I wouldnt be so harsh.I think that “Top Gun” was more of a fairy tale than the “K-19”.As someone mentione above K-19 used realistic setting and a historical storyline.
Given that between 4’000 and 6’000 MANPADS “disappeared” with the end of Saddam’s regime and that Iraq had a certain number of SA-16 (a top end MANPADS in anyone’s book), your statement does not hold much water.
Are you sure about this number?Wouldnt we see more helicopters shot down then
I will take some photos of German Phantoms for you on May 19th at ILA-Berlin airshow 😉
And get hit in the as*s by one of their own SAMs…which BTW…I think is what happened in a couple of cases.
I was speaking of SAMs being launched first and only then the Mig-29s pulling up and launching their R-73s.Not at the same time of course
I am aware that fragments of Strela 2M missile were found in only one Mig-29 that was shot down.I am not sure if another Mig-21 was shot down due to friendly fire,i have read it somewhere.
The main problem with Bosnia was that people from different ethnicities and religions lived scattered around the country,ie. there was no 3 specific ortodox, christian and muslim parts of the country. Each lets say village wanted to join its side but as you know you cannot form a country from many fragments scattered around and not in contact with each other. Due to this ,the hostilities started becase the Serbian wanted to protect the area’s where Serbians lived in Bosnia and Croatia and the other two sides their own.
Speaking of Afganistan,i do not why NATO force dont act even if they know that 70% of worlds opium production comes from there. This opium poisons many people around the world and in EU especially.

Am i the only Serb here who realises(sincle long time ago) that only 2 airplanes were shot down?
Anyways,as SOC said, having missiles doesnt mean anything.Under a total air supremacy that NATO and US like to make themselves have,it is rather difficult to switch on your defence radar for a long enough time to acquire the airplanes and launch the missiles without getting a HARM in your face. Then,ECM is also the problem as the Russian type missiles that both Iraq and Serbia posses could be vunerable to jamming as the technology has been around for years.
I am of the opinon that our Mig-29s and Air defence should have performed the mission together.By that i mean Mig-29s taking off and flying low over the ground while during that time as many SAMs as possible being launched at NATO airplanes. While NATO airplanes would be busy avoiding the SAMs,Mig-29s would pull up in a steep climb(as they performed in the engagements during the war) and try to aquire the NATO airplanes with their R-73s.As soon as they launch the missiles they would return to different airfields. Yes,this plan would be more risky for radar and SAM crews, but if some sucess was to be achieved,it had to be risked.Sending Mig-29s without any Air defence support and non-functional radars was a nonsence.
When one of the Serbian Air Force Generals came to the Mig-29 unit after the unsucessfull engagements,he aksed the pilots why they were unable to shoot down any airplanes and the pilots told him they would have if he was to provide them with functioning airplanes. To that the General replied “You want to be the heroes and you dont want to die!”. 😡 I would have put that General in remote controlled Cessna with his hands tied flying towards the NATO airplanes on his own at a time :diablo:
The torpedo you are talking is Skhval.

I am not sure if they were supplied to Iran however
Its clear only 2 airplanes were shot down!
I suggest for Kobraforces to check the older threads on the subject using the search option! Cause i dont want people to think of us Serbs having illusions about scores of destroyed NATO airplanes. If anyone wants, for 10€ they can buy pieces of shot down F-117 at the musem lol :diablo:
Now i hope that our Mig-29s will get somewhat upgraded as discussed in other threads and protect the skies, without conflicts.
I have an hour long video on a CD about Severstal, one of Russian Typhoon submarines. It was filmed for a German TV. There is a swimming pool, sauna, relaxation room, smoking room…etc. It was designed indeed for long deplomnets!

The thing that bothers me is,why did no one say anything about UK and Northern Ireland problems,France and Corsica,Spain and Basque,American extinction of Indian tribes(yes its historical thing, but still a large scale),US attrocities in Vietnam…These countries are large and no one dares to interfere with their problems.
Rwanda someone mentioned before but i guess not many people care about Africa at all.:(
And last but not least that US does not recognize the International tribunal to put its citizens on trial. And then they give an ultimatum to Serbia to catch the war criminals else….Isnt that called double-standards???
I do not agree with killings of Bosnian muslims or Croats by Serbian forces, but these attrocities happened on all sides and in many places in the world as mentioned above. If we want to have justice, then lets have justice for all(Doesnt US “Pledge of alegiance” say “freedom and justice for all” in the end? – blah)
