In the mid 90s while on holidays in the Kopaonik mountain in Serbia,while walking in a valley between the cliffs,i suddenly heard a strange noise behind me.I turned around and surprise,coming my way at about 200ft,two Mig-29s flew over on afterburners and turned left around the hill,one after the other.The sound was amazing and the yellow flame coming out of twin jet engines of each Mig impressed me.I wish i just had a video camera,it would have been an impressive scene to share with other people!

There are civilian airfields at Larnaca and Pafos.Pafos airfield also has military use where Greek F-16s are sometimes based.

In the British base in Akrotiri there is also an airfield used by NATO.

And a section of highway between Larnaka and Limassol as well as one close to Aya Napa are used as emergency runways in the case of war.
