Ruins of Zeljava again
Ruins of Zeljava
Tunnel from inside.I wonder what they would have done if there was no war and the mig-21s were replaced completely by mig-29s?Would they cut two “stripes” for fins:)
This is a picture of one of the airstrips at Zeljava. As you can see the airstrip has been destroyed at a distance of every 30m.It was practice it Yugoslav national army at a time (JNA) to have for each object it made(airports, underground bunkers etc. etc.) plans for its destroying so it does not fall in enemy’s hands. For example airstrips here.At the sides of the airstrips there are shafts(holes) at every 30m trough which exlosive charges can be placed if these airstrips are to be destroyed. This solution was thaught more effective than surface explosion like from the bombs or Duranal or some similar anti-airstrip weapons because when the explosion from bellow occurs the integrity of the soil below is changed and it is much harder to fix the airstrip. It is more profitable to build new one than scrape off the old one and level the soil etc etc…Smart huh?
Canadian armoured vehicle from SFOR standing in front of the enterance to one of the tunnels.Note the destroyed electrical tug car on the right side that was used to pull airplanes to the enterance/exit of the tunnel before and after landing!
Airstrip leading to the mountain.
Hey people.I am sorry the other discussion about underground airfields went bad.Lets start fresh here.As i said before,i have videos of airbase in Zeljava in Bihac before it got destroyed and one from Batajnica.I will also post some more pictures i find below.
1st is the plan of Zeljava airbase.
Hope you like them!
Ok guys lets quit with all these pointless discussion because no one can win.
I just have to say two things:
1st. to all of you: We did as best as we could to protect our airforce and military taking in accound how many airplanes and how intense they attacked us every day.I think all of you have to agree with me on that.
2nd. To f-18 hamburger…no thanks, you better buy one of those F-101s and then sell it on e-bay to earn some money to buy some big macks for your stomach to cope with rest of population there. I am sorry people for this remark, but it really ticked me off what he wrote. It is ok to prove us wrong and correct us but to provoke and tease like that it is not.
Regards
DJ
P.S: if someone can tell me where i can post some good videos for free of those tunnels and other of our airforce i would do it with pleasure for all the aircraft enthusiasts here.
If those IAF aircraft are museum samples it wouldnt be a bad idea for museums to exchange them somehow for some airplanes of YUAF?
Mig-23 is not in the lineup of those aircraft but on the right, next to the C-47.It is painted with beige and brown colours.
The difference between Galeb G-2 and J-21 is that J-21 had no fuel tanks on the tips of the wings since it was short range attack aircraft.
Iraqi planes were brought to old Yugoslavia to get repaired but were never returned due to Desert Storm. These airplanes include 1 Mig-23 that is in the picture above and i think 4 Mig-21s.
If you want i can post more pictures of this sole Mig-23 and those Mig-21s.
Best regards
Thanks for the great pictures!
Are there any parts where they didn’T let you go?
I have asked myself what has happened to EF 131,russian produced Ju-287 v3s,if they are in any museums or not.
Best regards!
I see it now!Take a look at those front fins on the picture with mig-21.They are much further away from the front end of the missile than on the normal AA-2.Then look at the AA-2c below, doesnt the distance look kinda similar?I think therefore also it can be AA-2c!
Lepo izgleda!Svidja mi se nova sema bojenja!
Hvala:)
Thanks for both of your replies!
Mark2: Maby it has protective cover on the front to protect the IR receiver?
HAWK75: U kakvom je stanju kod vas RV?Da li se prica o nekoj modernizaciji ili?Za mig 21 na primer.Ili Neke polovne f-16?
regards
