The answers simple. Tell the RAF – “no CVF, then no F-35” 😉
HMS Ocean, HMS Bulwark and one of the Bays went through the Suez canal last week, so are in the area, although they are apparently heading elsewhere on Operation Taurus according to the RN Website.
There really does seem to be a lot of ships in that part of the world now.
Probably because LCY is, at least for its size, an important and high profile airport. SDU and YTZ most definately are not.
I think you have hit the nail on the head. The fact that the plane was painted up specially for it and the fact that it is being seen flying in an out by other operators whom my just be interested in aquiring one at some point suggests that there is an element of marketing going on as well as some landing / take off and ground handling tests.
Very sad indeed. Its a tough place to work.
I just heard on the radio BP’s top man in Aberdeen say that they had suspended their contract with Bond
Something large and shiny has just landed at STN and to add to the confusion, those Blackhawks have apparently now morphed into Merlins :diablo: Don’t you love those Journo’s
They just said on the radio that a couple of Chinooks and a couple of blackhawks plus one other helicopter was just seen near STN, so it looks like the rumours may be correct, unless its all a big ruse ?
There seems to be some misinformation doing the rounds re the USA visitors, it may be being done deliberately for security reasons.
Someone also mentioned an Ethiopian 737 is due at STN as well but I couldn’t quite see where they fit into the G20 thing, so it might just be a general movement
A couple of Il-96 and a 62M are rumoured. Saudi’s and their large entourage are due in at some point in the next few days at STN as well, which could mean up to 5 aircraft.
Its going to be very interesting in the next few days with all sorts of unusual stuff arriving at the main airports in the South East.
Excellent thanks 😎
Yep, Thats the one, now up on a pole. Not had the Cockpit canopy fitted yet either when I saw it 😎
Is it a copy of one used by a famous pilot at NW ?
I had always viewed WW1 aviation as being a bit of a poorly run sideshow and what I learned from this programme was that it was not that at all. The idea of sending the Ace’s back to train the next generation I had thought was a WW2 idea and had no idea that it happened so far back. I also had no idea that so many thousands of RFC pilots lost their lives in WW1 as well. Also imagine the fuss today if a VC holding Ace was rejected for service in a certain squadron for ‘not being a Gentleman’. It was clearly a different era.
So will the unanswered question around the unknown grave ever be solved, or is that another programme in the making ?
I have not been for many years but on the strength of an enjoyable visit last time I sent my two young Nephews along for a look with their dad last year.
They were not impressed as they thought the interactivity of some of the exhibits at Duxford was much more fun (They are young after all) . Their dad did comment that he thought it was looking a bit tatty as well and that Duxford seemed more contemporary but still respected the historical importance of the exhibits which was a difficult balance to strike.
Setting up an e-petition on the No 10 website, would at least mean that someone is compelled to check the situation and respond…………….and I doubt Museum trustees are used to getting queries from number 10 so it might focus a few minds.
Small update on this story including a picture of her being given a ride back to the UK.
