Which of these super duper J-10, Blunder or F-16 do you expect to last 2 mins against the MKI or even Mig-29K?
My point with IL-38 and Tu-142 was that IN has currently more capable MPA’s than PN.
You keep repeating my point. Once PN see’s IAF and IN fighters the P-3C’s will be hanger queens, no more no less. Since you have already included weapons pakistan will not have for the next 5-6 years, lett me just add a couple more to change the picture completely, KS-172 and Barak-2. P-3…sitting duck.
ks-172???? lol, how is progress of that?
IL-38/tu-142 more capable than P-3C? That’s why so many advanced naval forces around the world use P-3C as their ASW/MPA platform right?
The only problem for Chavez is that the waiting list for S-300’s is now 6 years….
which countries are waiting for the S-300s?
The Chinese forums were saying that China gave some F-7s to North Korea recently, not idea how true that is.
Thanks. Looks like the system on 052C is actually Ukrainian. Also:
http://www.sinodefence.com/airforce/specialaircraft/y8balancebeam.asp
they just say it’s a phased array they don’t say anything about it being an AESA (which would be notable).
It’s AESA. I read it from Chinese sources, but you can find it here.
http://www.strategycenter.net/research/pubID.113/pub_detail.asp
note the active phased array radar
we know that 052C’s AESA radar was developed by lab 14, but it may have received some Ukrainian help.
Do you have any sources on the 052C because from what I’ve read it’s not even on the level of Aegis. The Y-8 is a cargo aircraft. Which Japanese ships have AESAs?
I remember reading about Japanese ship using APAR on CDF a while back, I can’t remember which ship it was.
052C http://www.armedforcesjournal.com/2006/04/1813798
The Y-8 series, as in KJ-200 balance beam. They have a series called the high new series for surveillence aircrafts using Y-8 platforms.
Not just delivered, they’ve already been flight testing the thing. So AESAs in service or under developement in the US:
APG-63v(2)
APG-63v(3)
APG-63v(4)
APG-77
APG-77 with more modules (last I heard the radar for the F-15E will be either this or the APG-63v(4))
APG-79
APG-80
APG-81
AN/APQ-181 – (B-2)
X-Band Radar (Nearly 70,000 T/R modules 😮 )
THAAD Radar
SPY-3
VSR
MP-RTIP Radar (E-10)
FBX-T
E-2D Advanced HawkeyeOther countries:
F-2 AESA (Mitsubishi)
SAMPSON Multi-Functional Radar
Signaal/Marconi S1850M Long Range Radar (LRR)
AESA RBE2 (Rafale)
CAESAR (Typhoon)
Ericsson AESA (Gripen)Any others?
I think the Japanese were the first to put AESA radar on their warships.
Also, you can add Erieye, Phalcon, KJ-2000, 052C radar, the entire Y-8 series on there.
ZHUK-MSFE VS APG-79
WHAT IS ZHUK-MSFE
IT Sim To Be very POWERFULL
this is a thread on FC-1, not Russian vs American radar.
No, its not the only radar projects. All major radar-related institutes have at least low-scale mock-up projects about AESA. But the main problem is to get working TR modules after 15-years industrial collapse, which was especeally bad in electronic industry. Electronic industry is not the radar designer’s field of influence and they cant do much about it except help electronic industry get money from goverment. As soon as the technology behind TR-modules will be mastered, a number of new radars will be announced for sure.
yep, that’s where USA and Japan have over everyone else.
Interesting. There are a number of DSCA reports of Pakistan obtaining extra Ship launched Harpoons and extra sets of Phalanax CWIS.
Considering the fact taht most of our present frigates have this capability I thought these orders would be for our new ships.
nope, F-22P uses C-802A, FM-90N and Z-9ec.
Just to mention, I am sure someone will publish the pictures soon, there are images doing the internet of KJ-2000 AWAAC’s aircraft, there are 4 seperate images and in each the aircraft pictured has a different code, so it may be safe to assume that the KJ-2000 has entered PLAAF service.
yeah, people have reported to have seen it in Wuxi and Hangzhou are in the province of Zhejiang. Which is close to Nanjing, but in a different province (Nanjing is located in Jiangsu province). So, we know it’s no longer flying from the airbase that it was testing.
Also, we’ve seen B-4040, B-4041, B-4043 so far. We can safely assume that B-4042 also exists. The interesting question is whether the original #762 got renumbered to the B series or if it’s still just used as a prototype.
With possibly over 100 J-10s now built and operating in 3 regiments the PLAAF is finally becoming the well equiped force it deserves to be.
sadly speaking, J-7/8 is still the backbone of the force for the next 5 to 10 years.
right now? probably SH
Nick_76,
You forgot that countries whose rulers killed 70 million of their own have a serious problem about making up for their military puissance. When you are run over and ruled by a tiny island next door, you perhaps tend to take it out on your own people to make up for your frustration.
No wonder our resident chauvinist feels like he has to ride the coattails of his co-ethnics in small islands. When your real country is best at killing only its own, you tend to settle for anyone as a rolemodel.
someone is a little bitter? :p :p
I do have a suggest for you though. Seeing that you have only 28 posts, maybe you should respect some of the members who have been here a lot longer like GoldenDragon and SOC.
Ah you are dodging the point. Can you think of any other country that refuses to ACKOWLEDGE the EXISTENCE of its “frontline” fighter AFTER its supposed induction and plans to order several hundred?
If you are seen with a woman that is hinted to be your wife after the alleged marriage is done, isn’t it ridiculous? Especially when you regularly see another woman 😀
Secrecy about weapons that are rarely seen is normal. Secrecy about “top end” fighters? Ridiculous. Unless of course the “top end” fighter is just a facade to hide your purchase of reliable Russian jets.
Yeah, it’s so secret that everyone knows about it. The photos of the fighter is appearing on the official national newspaper websites. And let’s not forget the photos of dozens of different J-10s we see.
secrecy of “top end” fighter is not normal? China still hasn’t unveiled the figures of J-8F. Why should it give edge to anyone by start telling people every parameter of its weapons. Please, go read “art of the war”.
Or that China is p!ssed off that it is not getting the best and the latest Russian items and is throwing its usual h!ssy fit ie negotiating by putting pressure on a KNAAPO which aint doing too great business wise.
su-35, su-34 and su-33 are available to China. What else are Russian’s best and latest item?
Today I spotted an AWACS plane in PAKISTAN, which had a RADOME on top, white paint, I repeat RADOME, not the beam. I’m very sure of what I saw on Chaklala Airbase.
There was a news item Chinese were sending an AWACS system to Pakistan, I can confirm to you its a non-beam one. Saw it PST ~6 AM.
No other news apart from Fact Ukrainian IL-76 was also present but it had a logo of Ukrainian Cargo service or something. It was parked in Islamabad Airport [Civilian part of bascially Chaklala Airbase). The AWACS was not in civilian area, I saw it while my plane en route Kuwait was taking off.
Yeah, as I said before, it’s the Y-8 AEW. That’s the one that china is trying to get exported. The balance beam is not up for sale and neither are the KJ-2000.
