    Daz,

What was the name of Clive’s book about the build ?

I lent my copy out and never got it back, so i’d like to hunt for a copy but can’t recall the title.

Dunno… you may be right…. 3, 4, 5 figures….. i still recall thinking “oooh thats a lot of money”, but it was on the old ICC forum which got fried so i can’t check.

…..Cant remember how much it was going for then though. Wasnt a huge amount i remember that much.

Depending on the definition of the word ‘wealth’, i seem to recall it was a four figure sum 😮

There is a surviving mark 30 cockpit/nose existing here in Australia however this project has not proceeded with any reliance on accessing that object and it is not expected to be available for the project, but does form a wonderful reference for photographs and dimensions………

…….. Perhaps in time its original cockpit can be acquired? and re-fitted?

Cor…. don’t you just hate it when you need a nose section, and the one available can’t be had ?

Just like the Yorkshire Air Museum’s Halifax project and the (stubborn) IWM wih the nose of the ex-Radlett PN323. Hopefully you may have better luck and the Camden museum will see the merits in donating/offering the nose of A73-27.

    Good luck Mark

Not much to see i believe.

Unlike the higher ground ‘up north’, most of Dartmoor is accessible/walkable and hence recovered/plundered. Remember the recent Barra’ parts offered on eBay ?

No the Vulcan nose is no longer in Hangar 1, in fact there are no cockpits on display in Hgr1 anymore., big space to hold a hangar party though……….

    Mark,

Any idea where the walk through B.1 nose is then ?

I couldn’t see it on site either last September or November when i was there, and as it’s quite big, i assumed it was in the new hall.

    Cheers…….

Am sure this has been advertised before, in fact IIRC it was on ebay not so long ago – pretty sure its ex Failsworth…. David or Mk12 will know…

    TT

    Ben

Yes, WB440 ex-Failsworth. Was on eBay starting (and unsold) at £14K ten months ago, and there was some debate over it’s worth at the time, but see here………
